Hello everyone! We're back with another update and we've got some exciting changes coming. In this small update, we are making some changes to the environmental lighting. We wanted to make the world seem darker to better reflect the original experience released back in 2018. It was brought to our attention by some players that the current setup is too bright. We're still working on the next major update, but we decided to pass a smaller one with some spooky changes. Below you'll find a better description of this change as well as some other improvements and bug fixes. This update will be going live shortly after this announcement.
The Lights Out Update [0.1.2] Patch Notes
Darkened Environmental Lighting & Effects
In addition to making the main scene slightly darker, we've also implemented some fog mechanics. When in the Normalverse, this fog isn't as dense. However, when in the Realmverse the density of this fog increases during the player's transition. We believe the environment is too small to be able to have full visibility. This will not only provide a scarier experience, but it will also become a more challenging one.
Implemented New Flashlight Mechanics
We decided to reduce the overall brightness and radius of the flashlight slightly to help make the environment darker once again. You'll also find that the flashlight now has a limited capacity and once drained will no longer work. We are exploring other options to expand the functionality of the flashlight in future updates.
Disabled Glow Appearance for Maguntsche Demon
While we initially liked the idea of having the main enemy glow in the dark, we now feel that it makes him too visible while in the Realmverse. Not only will this make the game more challenging, but it is also more similar to the source material of the first game.
Fixed Backroom Step Bug
We've changed some of the level design elements so that players no longer get stuck in the door frame between the backroom and the kitchen.
Fixed Blink Mechanic Animation
We discovered an issue thanks to players regarding the blinking mechanic on displays with larger resolutions. This has now been fixed and should work correctly.
