Hello all!
It's high time we took a look at what’s coming next for WARNO. In today’s DevBlog, we present a fresh new roadmap of all the good things WARNO coming your way for the foreseeable future.
Read on!
What’s Coming Next
WARNO - SOUTHAG took its sweet time to release, but that doesn’t mean the Eugen team has been idle with other expansions and projects. The way game development works is that some of our developers might be busy until the very last minute, while others (think artists, for instance) could already be working on the next big thing in the pipeline.
So, that means while we were wrangling a heavily resisting WARNO - SOUTHAG out of the door, some of the other projects managed to be advanced pretty far. Several DLCs and expansions are actually very close around the corner. Now, we are not giving any concrete release dates (yet), specifically in order to avoid missing them.
Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence
We already previewed some of the new models coming with this community-voted Nemesis DLC. The Strike Team is testing a first playable version of the mini-expansion as we speak. We hope to release it in the not-too-distant future (no specific date yet).

- Check out a recent preview of various models for NATO's UK Home Defence Region London.
- And the model preview for the Warsaw Pact’s Soviet 2-ya Tamanskaya Gvardeyskaya Motostrelkovaya Diviziya.
Nemesis #5
So, it is no more than logical that after the fourth we get Nemesis #5 further down the road. As per “tradition”, which sees every other Nemesis offering be pre-chosen by Eugen to speed up development, this particular offering is ours to select. The DLC will keep the focus on the SOUTHAG theater of war, bringing two new interesting divisions, but with more deets to come. Glean some clues from the artwork below, but we’ll surely be back soon with a reveal in an upcoming DevBlog.
LANDJUT Expansion
So, here’s a new one: we are working on a more ambitious expansion, based on Steel Division 2’s Tribute format. This means featuring a large selection of Divisions, but no Army General or Operation. This type of expansion is also quicker to produce and deliver.
More details to come in due time, but this next expansion is called LANDJUT (which should give you more than enough clues) and will feature one new nation, 8 new divisions, and their specific equipment, which the community as been clamoring for since the very beginning of WARNO. Including the one below.
BLACK BIRDS Expansion
After LANDJUT, we have another Tribute-style expansion coming, also with 8 new divisions. This one is a bit special and stems from our desire to expand the WARNO world and get a bit more creative. Called BLACK BIRDS, the expansion will feature 5 new nations historically outside of either NATO or the Warsaw Pact, or otherwise very reluctantly in it. In our alternative World War III history, they have all picked “a side”, allowing us to feature new and rarely represented equipment for each alliance. Can you recognize the nations in the artwork below? More details to follow in the future!
Even more stuff!
And somewhere between all the above, we will hold a new vote for you to pick Nemesis #6. Due to the production pipeline, the sooner we roll this out, the better!
Now, we can already hear some of the grumblings about the apparent lack of any Army General campaign in the future, or how single-player is being left on the wayside, et cetera. In response: the very reason we focus first on the upcoming Nemesis and Tribute-like expansions for the coming future, is to lay the groundwork for additional Army General-heavy expansions after this.
With the current list of Army General campaigns, we have shed a comprehensive light on World War III centered on West (and East) Germany, and even some Czechoslovakia. We will move to other theaters of war, but to do this, we need to create new environments, sets of terrain, new maps, etc. All of this takes time. Our 3D artists have already started to take the first tentative steps; we hope to be able to share the fruits of their labor in the not-too-distant future.
Until Next Time
Start expecting some of the first details to come from this new roadmap in the upcoming DevBlogs.
Don’t forget the vibrant WARNO community. Check the latest news on the Steam News page or visit the Steam Forums. Get together with other players on either the excellent Discord server, Reddit page, YouTube or our Instagram.
Until then, see you on the battlefield, commanders.
