Friends,
It's the second day since the release of Planet of Lana, and slowly - very slowly - we're getting a little closer to normality again. But it is still a very surreal feeling that Planet of Lana has finally been released after six long years that the game was in the making.
We've had so much wonderful feedback since the release - whether it's from all you players out there, or from the press. And we are really happy and proud about that! Therefore, we would like to share an excerpt from the press with you:
- GameSpot / Score: 8/10 "Planet of Lana's vibrant hand-painted art style draws you into a story about working together to overcome insurmountable odds."
- GamesRadar+ / Score: 4.5/5 "Planet of Lana is a beautiful cinematic adventure full of mystery, suspense, and charm. With stunning hand-painted backdrops, an enchanting musical score, and characters you care for, the companion-based mechanics and bond between Lana and Mui make this one very special adventure."
- Steam Deck HQ / Score: 5/5 "Planet of Lana is a gorgeous 2D puzzle game that performs admirably on the Steam Deck, which is the best way to enjoy this heart-felt story!"
- 3D Juegos "Planet of Lana is a charming mix of adventure, puzzle and platforming that remains consistently beautiful and inventive."
- Vandal Videojuegos / Score: 8 "Planet of Lana is an incredible audio-visual experience and a simple but moving sci-fi story, but it's also a hilarious cinematic platform adventure, especially in its first half, where the jumping sections, chases, puzzles and contemplative moments follow one after the other at a good pace."
- Pure Xbox / Score: 8/10 "It took us slightly over five hours to complete Planet of Lana, and while that might seem short, it felt like just the right amount of time for a game like this. We had a blast completing its unique and varied puzzles while also admiring the stunning scenery along the way, and it's definitely an experience that lives in the memory once you've completed it."
- What If Gaming / Score: 8 "Planet of Lana is a lovely puzzle platformer with a lot of heart. The lead characters, Lana and Mui are meaningfully integrated into each puzzle, and their journey across different regions of a beautiful world is equally touching and compelling."
- Games.cz / Score: 9/10 "A short expedition into an unknown world, which charms with its audiovisual design. It tells the emotional story of a girl searching for her sister and her cute animal companion, who are left alone in a world full of robots and danger."
- EveryEve.it / Score: 8.5 "Artistically delightful and with a soundtrack by Takeshi Furukawa, Planet of Lana confirms itself as a narrative-driven adventure of excellent quality. The symbiotic relationship between little Lana and the tender Mui is the fulcrum around which the authors of Wishfully build a gameplay with puzzle and stealth elements."
- IGN France / Score: 9 "If we would have appreciated a longer adventure and some risk-taking, we are obliged to admit that everything Planet of Lana does, it does it admirably well!"
- IGN Italia / Score: 8 "Planet of Lana has a remarkable visual impact, a mysterious and fairytale-like atmosphere, an excellent use of colours and sound effects, and an underlying minimalism that is as charming as it is hermetic (in a good way)."
- Multiplayer.it / Score: 8.5 "Planet of Lana is visibly the result of a work of synthesis, of subtraction: far from being an overabundant product in its various elements, it aims at the essence, at the care of the elements that allow a narrative adventure to aim for excellence. Attention to aesthetics and sound design, Wishfully's video game is responsive, precise and interesting in the construction of the puzzles."
- Player.it / Score: 9.5/10 "It takes more than just a good script to tell a good story, and Planet of Lana is yet another and most fitting demonstration that certain ideas can only be communicated through the medium we now call 'video game'."
- Noisy Pixel / Score: 8.5/10 "The overall design of Planet of Lana is something to marvel at. The game loves to throw you into a tense situation and then give you a stretch of peaceful land to run through and reflect on the experience."
Besides all the positive and productive feedback we got (and get) from you, such press reviews are an additional balm for the battered developer soul. So, please keep sending us further feedback. We will look at everything, and continue to improve the game. Big promise! ❤️
With love,
The Wishfully Team
