Cairn is more than just a climbing game, it follows in the tradition of the grand adventure games like Death Stranding or Tomb Raider. As you climb Kami, you camp in the mountain and explore its hidden paths, finding food, water, and places to rest. But you also live Aava’s story and feel both the exhilaration of the ascent and the challenges that comes with it, as she leaves behind her family, friends, and the world below. You will meet fellow mountaineers and uncover Kami’s hidden past — the footprints of earlier expeditions and the remnants of a long-forgotten troglodyte culture.
As Emeric Thoa puts it: “it’s also a human adventure: the story of a determined alpinist, and perhaps more than that, a reflection on mountaineering itself, on what drives people to push themselves beyond their limits to climb mountains”.
Before you get to know Aava, Marco and all the companions she meets on her journey, explore Kami, and discover its long forgotten past in the game, you can read more in a conversation between Mathieu Bablet (writer and art director) and Emeric Thoa (creative director) : https://blog.playstation.com/2025/12/04/cairn-the-climb-of-a-lifetime-starts-january-29-2026/
