Greetings!
Arthur and his employees are more than just NPCs in a game that blindly fulfill tasks. In fact, each one of them has special traits that make them unique in Anvil Saga. Over time, they will acquire new traits to add to their collection of foibles.

Special traits will positively and negatively alter the way you run your forge. For example, anyone with the "pacifist" trait will refuse to fulfil orders associated with war. These workers are better used to create consumables or extract resources. The "underground man" is happy to just live on mushrooms he finds in the mine. Send him to extract ore and don't worry about his hunger needs.
And then there are "Night Owl" or "Early bird" buffs that enable a character to perform their tasks better during certain times of the day.

In Anvil Saga, employees can also have temporary boosts and weaknesses. If a nest of spiders falls onto the ore miner's head, they won't go back underground for a long time (would you?). If a worker spends too much time in the sun, they'll develop heatstroke and will get tired faster.
No one is immune from buffs and debuffs. You will have to give your employees time to recover before they are able to work at full capacity again. However, if they have a surge of energy, be sure to allocate complex tasks to them and reap the rewards.
As in life, delegation is key to running a successful business!
Respectfully,
The Anvil Saga Team
