Hi there!
An online multiplayer mode has been added to Smackball. There's a preview of it on Smackball's beta branch.
There are two types of online matches you can play:
- Private: Host a match and invite a Steam friend to play with you.
- Public: Match up against a random player.
All game modes can be played online, but the CUSTOM mode is only available for private matches.
Some core gameplay changes have also been made:
- There's now a short 'cooldown' period after shooting. This makes spamming the shoot button a bit more difficult.
- Paddle sizes have been slightly decreased,
In order to check out the beta, you'll need to:
- Open the Steam client and naviagte to your Library.
- From the Smackball page, open the Properties window from the Manage menu.
- Select the BETAS tab.
- Select the beta branch from the dropdown menu.
- Smackball will then be updated to the latest beta.
NOTE: The online multiplayer should soon go out of beta, after which it'll be moved to the default Smackball branch. When that happens, the price of the game will be slightly increased.
Cheers,
Vidak
