Hey Everyone!
First, thank you all for your support over the last year and half. We are extremely grateful for all the feedback you've provided us, as well as the encouragement that what we've been toiling over for so long now is worth it - even more, that pushing the release date back to put out a FULL and COMPLETE game that has all the bells and whistles we initially wanted, in addition to a lot of the ideas generated by the community - is the best way to go.
With that said, we are pushing the release date for Greats of the Gridiron to early spring 2022.
Perhaps the biggest reason for the pushback is that we want to expand to 31 default teams, improve the CPU's AI especially in terms of them being able to draft against you, as well as their play calling ability so that it's more adaptive.
Here are the other feature coming:
SINGLE PLAYER
* Season Mode (just play a season with a playoff)
* Franchise Mode (play multiple season with drafts and retirements and salary cap)
* 31 default teams rather than 15
* Simulate the games between computer teams
* Full assortment of stats and the ability to download
* Computer simulated draft
MULTIPLAYER (ONLINE)
* Not a lot of new features are going on here but we are working on improving the draft user interface as well as graphics (including character portraits)
Play Characteristics
* Player injury % (some players are more prone to injury and we want to factor that in)
* Diamond in the Rough feature (some draftees are like TB12 and can be a diamond! Whereas some like Jamarcus Russell are a fool's gold - we want to explore this option in both multi and single player modes
* Character portraits - we want to get better and more variety
The other main reason is that a lot of community members had expressed interest in "getting in on the action" and helping us create default teams and playbooks for the game's initial release - and we thought this was a great idea because it would add so much more variety/parody to the game for single player mode.
So, we've decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign that gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy some of the new perks we're making available. We didn't want to exclude anyone without first giving them the opportunity.
Here's quick look at some of the opportunities backers will get:
- Get the game at a discounted price
- Get the game before it's release on Steam
- Have access to the Coordinator's Office where you can create a team and playbook well in advance of the game's release so that you're ahead of the pack
- Name one of the Default Teams, pick their logo, have your name as the head coach
- Have your name as one of the QBs, HBs or WRs (any position)
Again, to recap - we are pushing the release date back to early spring 2022 so that we can work on bringing the game to MAC users, improve and expand on single player mode, give community members the opportunity to leave their mark on the default teams which will ship to every new user. We are also working on a redesign of the end zone, more sound effects and a Hall of Fame bust area where your players can retire and be seen by the world (complete with clickable interface that shows their stats and bio (which you get to write up).
We hope you continue to support us despite what might be an initial disappointment at the delay. We promise you that this is only to make the game as greats possible from day one because that's what every gamer deserves.
We are looking at launching the Kickstarter campaign around October 1st. We will link here for that.
Until then - please always feel free to reach out to us: [email protected]
