Hello All!
This week we’re running through the loot pinatas that we affectionately call Monuments. The Lost Isle is a survival game and, as such, will have a perfectly solid crafting system you can use to put together all the tools you need to survive your experience. But, we don’t want you to spend all of your time chopping trees and mining rocks.
Monuments are areas specially prepared by our team to be landmarks and dungeons for you to explore. They come in several different shapes and flavors, but the central idea is the same. Monuments contain loot that is either hard to find or difficult to craft for yourself. They are (very) public areas filled with all kinds of goodies to help you live just a little longer this time around.
We’re hoping you won’t let each other get all that loot for free, but we’ve got plans even if you do suddenly feel a rush of pacifism. While some of the loot in these Monuments will be relatively easy to access, we’re hiding the best stuff behind locked doors, puzzles, and enemies.

The bosses and mobs should be a pretty straightforward challenge. Make sure you stab them more than they stab you. The puzzles are less straightforward, but we won’t be giving away any solutions here. Just know that you will probably have to spend some time investigating each of the Monuments for secrets (lighting random torches, banging on walls, etc). Watch your back while you do. Or have someone less intelligent watch it for you.
The keys aren’t a particularly difficult concept to grasp either. You’ll find keys out in the world with varying degrees of value such as a Bronze Key. If you take these keys to Monuments, you’ll be able to open doors with locks made of similar materials. You find a Bronze Key and it opens a Bronze Lock. The more valuable the key, the more valuable the loot you will find behind the door.
Each Monument is not limited in what kind of challenges you’ll see. You might need a key to unlock a room at the end of a puzzle. You might need to beat a boss just to access the first step of a puzzle. You might unlock a door that opens a puzzle that leads to a boss fight. We’re having a good time designing these Monuments and we hope that you’ll feel a full spectrum of emotion in and around them.

As always, make sure that you give us feedback on the Monuments when you get in game. We don’t want them to be impossible. We just want to make you sweat a little. Worry that you’ve taken too long. Worry that someone might be letting you solve the puzzle for them.
Thanks for reading this far. We appreciate the time you’re willing to spend on us and we hope we can make it worth it. If you aren't already apart of our Discord, feel free to follow this link for a chance to get into a closed beta. I'll write at you next week!
