Underworld Encounters

What are they?

Underworld encounters are players' first adventure into Mauroth's cursed domain. To prevent any unwelcome visitors, he has filled the dungeon corridors leading to his prison-tomb stronghold with deadly obstacles.

Currently there are two types of encounters:

Trap mazes like the one featured below, where you'll have to navigate through spikes, swinging axes, arrow shooters, flamethrowers, and many more devious surprises.

Enemy wave clear events where you'll be thrown into a large room and waves of skeletal enemies of increasing difficulty will spawn in looking for a fight.

How do they work?

All monuments will have a locked underworld gate somewhere off the beaten path. You'll have to do a bit of exploring to find them, but they look like this:

You'll need a skeleton key to unlock them, which you can get by defeating either a skeletal berserker or a dark entity and looting their corpse.

When the door is open you'll have access to a one-way portal that takes you to the start of the encounter. Once you're in, there's no going back. The only way out is through. If you're in a trap maze, you'll need to make it to the end where you'll find an exit portal. If you're in an enemy wave clear room, an exit portal will spawn once you've defeated the last enemy.

Aside from being fun and challenging, underworld encounters are also one of only two places to find ornate captain chests, which are the only sources of lootable infused weapons and armor. If you make it through to the end, you'll have access to some of the most powerful gear in Lost Isle!

The catch? Mauroth is unmerciful to intruders... if you don't make it out alive, your corpse is unrecoverable. Any items you bring down there to help you successfully complete the challenges will be lost forever if you die.

Will you risk it for the biscuit?
