DD#257 Through Their Faith, the Kingdom Comes.

Hi, everyone. Welcome to the last developer's diary of 2025.

First, here is our anniversary End-of-Year video.

Merry Christmas.
Happy Winter Solstice.
Happy New Year.

Yes, this week we got both Christmas and the Winter Solstice. But this year, the story is quite different. The Winter Solstice is a Chinese tradition in which families come together to honor those who have passed away. Three of my family members passed in July, plus my old high school principal. Not all my family got the chance to attend their funerals on such short notice, especially those who live overseas. Thus, most of them, instead, decided to participate in the ceremony this week.

Meanwhile, by inheritance, I am now the acting patriarch of my family because of a complex tradition. (It should be my father. But he is enjoying his retirement.) So, since July, I have been in charge of running most of the family business. But for this week and next, my priority is to be a good host. That includes babysitting all my overenergetic cousins, joining their healthy political, religious, and philosophical debates over dinner, and trying not to get murdered while playing various video games.

The good news is that Christmas in Shanghai is surprisingly fun this year. That makes my job easier. It can be something unthinkable in other cities in mainland China. But Shanghai is Shanghai. We still have Christmas, and we still have many churches. Even though, because of the situation in China, the religious part of Christmas is extensively toned down. But, people are still having fun, and the churches still hold mass and sing holy choirs. It's not a public holiday. Yet many still took time to participate. So, we only have "Merry Christmas" here. There is no "Happy Holiday" for those "politically correct" folks. You can never know how many Christians there are in China because it's pretty inconvenient to declare one's faith publicly for all kinds of reasons. For example, recently, a famous lawyer quoted something from the bible, and some mobs went after him. Thus, things are usually not that obvious.

But when I walked in the graveyard to honor my fallen family, I saw many crosses. Maybe in the end days, someone who had shown no signs of their belief for their entire life would call a local church to prepare for their final ritual. It's just like Silence (2016), directed by Martin Scorsese. In the end, they no longer need to hide anymore. And that is graceful. Faith is beautiful. No matter what is guiding you, the cross, the star, the crescent moon, the lotus, Yin and Yang, lore of the old times, or even noodles. What matters is that one shall have something they truly believe in beyond this life and the material world.

Meanwhile, there are many reflections to consider over this year. Maybe it was all part of the plan of the power from above. Should I not lose three family members, I might not feel so much when Charlie Kirk got shot, and consequently, go the extra length to know him more. Of course, that made a lot of those leftists hate me and my game more, in addition to their reasons to hate me because of my previous support for Israel. It’s a common mistake for game developers who want to please everyone, just as I saw many in the younger generation, now grown too weak to confront, avoid fighting for what they believe in. It’s time for that to change.

NEOLITHIC is the longest-living RPG Maker game in the world since 2004. It’s an old game, and we have players who have been here for more than 20 years. I already have an army of players who are quietly supporting me. There is absolutely no reason to change the game to something it’s not meant to be to attract those who don’t like our culture and tradition. Making a game is like running a nation. Logically, we shall all put our nations first. And, look at my family, we have “far-right” rednecks who legally went to the US and built everything from the ground up, achieved a true American dream; we have “far-right” old nobilities who value family honor and tradition more than anything else; we have a “far-right” New York police officer who maintains law and order; we have “far-right” gamers who simply hate DEI turns all beautiful girls in games ugly; and me, now being a “far-right” investor commanding millions of funds investing in things I believe in: non-woke game companies, AI, and Elon Musk. (Somehow achieved +90% over all profits in 2025, as shown in the video.) Many hate us because of who we are. We are the ones with faith, and we can achieve things they can never even dream of. Friedrich Nietzsche has told us to become people who can go beyond those who are trapped by social norms. And the higher we soar, the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly.

About the song itself, the lyric is written by one of my super-not-cute cousins (or a wild sister just appeared this week). Of course, she used AI. So do I. But it’s a challenge all by itself. The difficulty is its length and consistency. Most current AI tools cannot generate a song longer than 8 minutes. Suno, for example, cut a song off at 7:59. But I like solving problems like this. So, with some human hacking and interference, I successfully pushed AI further. But, after that, I still need to fill in all the graphics. Those are characters, cutscenes, and gameplay screenshots from the game. Most of them are something new this year. But some of them are from the previous year to fill in the theme of the song. There is almost no AI involvement. So, things got quite tedious, and I made a mistake at the beginning of the script. It also has quite an unusual workflow. We got the song first. And then, I decided to use it for this year’s video. But, anyway, here we are. The entire idea is also inspired by a lost SCP about faith and Prester John, but without some of the dark twists that commonly seem in SCP files. In my opinion, it was one of the greatest SCPs of old times. However, it was removed from the site in 2022 for unknown reasons after Biden “suspiciously somehow managed to become president.” The SCP Foundation website is no longer the same as it was a decade ago. Maybe someone who really doesn’t like Christian mythies for an unknown reason is in charge. It got wiped so thoroughly that even some SCP archive sites do not have it. It only exists in way-back machines and a Chinese translation.

Now, let’s go through the game update content for this week.

It’s actually quite a productive week, even with all the Christmas chaos.

First, continue from last week’s story; there is some polish to Rodericka’s content.

She got a working jukebox to play all the songs. And jukeboxes are now generic furniture you can buy from vendors. Mephisto will now also warn you if you step into Room 304 without an activated reality anchor. And most importantly, Rodericka will now tell you the entire story about the incident that happened on March 12th, 1933, if you have a good relationship with her and have finished the first task she gave you. The idea is that there is something even worse than demons. Demons still acknowledge God’s authority. (Plus, whether Rodericka is a demon is still debatable. Technically, she is just an ex-angel bannished from Heaven. ) So, in some cases, even demons decide that it’s better to save the world somehow. (Very reluctantly.)

Next, we moved on to the next major force from Hell.

We need some stronger demons in the story of the North Peak. Beelzebub‘s mosquitoes are just annoying, Rodericka’s dreamwalkers don’t even want to fight you, and Mammon’s golden bugs are, on the other hand, being hunted by many players to gain gold. It almost feels like a dark comedy for Lucifer. So, let’s get someone more destructive here.

Here comes Abaddon!

No, not that guy has a record of 12 times constant failure against the Imperial of Man in Warhammer 40k.

But the angel of...

Wait a second, I thought we were talking about demons.

Here is the fun fact: in many old books, Abaddon is actually an angel of destruction, serving God, even after Lucifer’s fall. Only after the medieval period does his depiction slowly turn him into a demon. Maybe he destroyed too many things and got corrupted. Anyway, now he is in his fallen form in the game and becomes the Lord of Destruction. He is a very angry guy. (Still, I can expect Lucifer to have some big headache again. That’s another demon lord he cannot actually control. Actually, so far, none of those powerful demon lords really care about Lucifer’s plan. Abaddon just wants to destroy things. Beelzebub wants to spread infections. Mammon wants to do business. Mephisto is with your main character. Rodericka...well, if possible, she really does not want to do anything.)

His minions remain true to their desire for destruction, usually very angry.

They are relatively stronger than other demon minions you encountered.

The good news is that you can turn them into your pets and tell them to destroy your enemies instead of others.

To make Abaddon and his faction really unique, the entire rage as a concept in the game has been dramatically changed. Any status can affect any attributions, and any other modifiers can modify this status effect. So, Abaddon’s followers are angrier than others. They can fight better when enraged. They also have a new skill that can effectively kill anyone who has less than 5% HP left (or 8% HP if Abaddon’s followers) and refund cooldown. It’s somewhat like Axe in Dota 2, just to fit their destroyer’s theme.

Now, let’s take a step back. Rage does not necessarily need to be associated with a demonic force. It’s a human emotion. So, it shall be something more generic. Generic, as some local gangs may even have some questionable drugs to intentionally trigger an enraged status, just to boost their combat capability.

Some characters may also teach you how to unleash your anger in battles. (In a gamely way, since you cannot control your characters when they are enraged, you don’t need to input any command. That allows you to auto-battle and faceroll through some weak enemies if you like.)

On the other hand, there shall also be many counter-methods to fight such anger, supernatural or not.

Alright, tell the R&D department we have raging demons influencing people to go mad on the streets. Give us something to fight the anger. Then, after spending a few billion taxpayers’ dollars, a scientist brings you this:

Oh, well, at least it works. It removes “enraged” and some other status, too. Now, you can keep calm and fight demons. The idea comes from a Tropico 6 joke. :)

There are other ways to become enraged or remove the enraged effect, too. For example, many alchemy ingredients now also have elements that can add or remove “enraged,” just so everyone can make their own potions if they see fit.

That’s the very angry part of the diary.

Now, let’s move on. Yes, there is even more content this week.

We got two new songs: <> and <>. Somehow, my super-not-cute cousin is using the game’s boomboxes as her music player. So, I also added some new features to it. You can now pause/resume a song when it’s playing. To ensure it works, all MP3 music has also been converted to OGG format. That also reduced the game’s size significantly without sacrificing audio quality.

This diary has already been quite long. So, let’s end here. There are a lot of unmentioned minor changes in the full changelog below. Feel free to take a look if you are interested.

2026 will be another great year in our endless legend.
