Hello friends, welcome back to Nova’s Diary! ⭐
First of all, if you’re watching this at the time of release, hold on a second! Because today at 9 PM CEST (so 12pm PT), we’ll hold our final stream of LudoNarraCon on our Community Hub! It’ll be a talk between members of the team, plus we’ll respond to the Q&A forms we posted around the previous days (you can also find it here: https://forms.gle/ZcbCuzLiEZtGeYSt5)
So yeah, as you can already imagine, this month we worked a lot (and I mean, A LOT) towards LudoNarraCon. I’m pretty sure this is our biggest event yet and it’s been a blast, technical issues aside. The guys at Fellow Traveler and the other developers are really nice people, and we had tons of fun deciding what we’d show during these 4 days of streams.

But that doesn’t mean that we haven’t worked on Venice tho. For example, our designer better defined the quests of the subsequent days, with a lot more mechanics, characters and interaction for our drone friend! This meant a lot of new tasks to organize, and a better definition of the remaining time of the production.
Our 3D artists worked on creating new buildings for the map, such as little churches and towerbells. We also created some walls and Venetian portici to make the map feel a lot more diverse. We also did some reworking of the roofs, in order to better accommodate high water structures like altane.

As seen during our April 23rd stream, a new character has joined our roster! She’s the Archivist. A character who’s working in Venice’s library in order to preserve the city’s heritage. She’s a bit of a workaholic, and she really cares about her struggle to categorize and preserve every aspect of the city. She’s one of the new characters that Nova will encounter on the third day of the game.

Our programmers are developing the new vibe system and we’re all testing and evaluating some new mechanics. To make the vibe collection more satisfying and active, we’re associating specific actions to each kind of vibe!
For now, we’re testing floating mid-air for a light-hearted mood (yellow), jumping on puddles for feelers (blue), and quicker grinding sequences for speedy players (red). This will take lots of polishing and fine tuning, but so far we’re satisfied with the different interactions they allow with the environment.
Last but absolutely not least, a very important aspect of Nova’s personality that we want to better present is their collecting mania: Nova likes taking physical objects that serve as memories of their experience, and this trip to Venice is no exception.
To better highlight this, we’re developing a camera system that makes these memories more visible, by zooming on the bookshelves in Nova’s room.

Aaand that's all for April. It's been a very busy month for the team, yet also extremely rewarding. We'd like to take this time to thank everyone who joined in our streams, who participated in the LudoNarraCon Discord AMA and generally played the game and wishlisted it.
YOU GUYS ARE REAL HEROES
I have no words to describe how much it helps us, and we can't wait to give back to you once the game will be completed!
Ok, now that's really all.
