Hello friends 💜
How y'all doing? I have just come back from a vacation week and oh boy was it needed! I have left all social stuff to much safer hands than mine and they sure delivered! (thank you so much Mari <3)

This meme was made by our artist Federico, who guarantees that there's definitely no loss here
Now that playtime's over, let's dive into what has been done in August so far!
DESIGN & STUFF
Starting with game design, the name of the game for us this month was DAY 4, as in the creating and setting of all initial stuff in Unity. Now, without going too deep into what will happen, it is going to be our longest day in the game just for the amount of stuff that's going to be there (spoiler/hint: Leo does something bad).
For this we are working on A LOT of systems, some of which you already know: Puzzles! That's right, the fourth day will also feature a simple puzzle that the player will have to solve in order to progress the story; we are still in concept so most things are still subject to change, but have some sneak peeks into what you can expect to see in the future.

"Feelin' confused? Don't worry, Nova's confused too" (these are just concept, stuff will change)
On the side of things, a lot of work has gone into fleshing out the level design of the previous days too: we always agreed that the streets and canals of our Venice were a bit too empty and spotless for our 2089 needs, so we proceeded to fill them up with random props and objects that really sell that abandoned feeling.

"The more derelict it looks, the better!"
2D ART & STUFF
Moving on with 2D, again to stay on the subject of Day 4, our artists have been at work creating some of the ambients that Nova will experience throughout their journey, like this spooky derelict house!

Work has also continued into updating our characters' puppets before introducing more and more complex animations. Last month we talked about Leo's new updated puppet, and this month was Nova's turn! Aaaand new animations have been made for Leo too!

3D ART & STUFF
Sadly, I don't have much to show regarding 3D this month, as our modelers and texturers took the opportunity to go on vacation too (and who can't blame them!), but what I can show is some of the progress made about the tree system. We are still learning it and tweaking our leafy creations, but so far they look very good!

Still have to work some kinks out, but they should soon leave that Minecraft-like look
PROGRAMMING & STUFF
Particular love went into programming this month, with the completion of the elevator system (that we talked about in July's devlog). LOOK AT IT GO!

Amusement parks in 2089 be like
Jokes aside, something that we are very proud of is the creation of a system that will let the player give specific items to different characters using dialogues and Yarn Spinner. It was made primarily for a couple of retrieval quest we had in mind, but now with hindsight we may be able to incorporate this new system into other quests.
And that concludes August's devlog. I did promise more content to be shown in the previous one but with most of our team members going on vacation I didn't have much material to work with; hopefully with September we may be able to show more stuff and progress on the game!
See you next month!
DREAD IT.
RUN FROM IT.
THE DEADLINE ALWAYS ARRIVES.
