The public beta has been out for a couple of weeks now and I received tons of feedback! This is very exciting! By the way, if you missed out on the opening of the beta, you can still sign-up here.
I smoothed off a few rough edges that you guys pointed out:
- A few difficult levels have been refined (not necessarily to make them easier, but rather to make them feel rewarding instead of punishing).
- Respawn animation has been shortened.
- A confirmation prompt when overriding the new save has been added.
- Every respawn now gives you the opportunity to “perfect cycle” the obstacle without waiting.
But that’s not all! The theme of this update is the input system. I completely changed the way inputs are received by the game, this enables support for a bunch of new controllers, PS4/5 and Switch pro controllers are now properly supported! This also comes with a menu to rebind gamepad and keyboard keys. Pretty exciting!
The press talked about Pale Night!
The news outlet AlphaBetaGamer wrote a small piece about Pale Night. I'm not gonna lie, this made me feel like a kid again. A small step for Pale night, a big step for us!
Community highlights
A few content creators have posted videos of Pale Night and I wanted to highlight a few remarkable ones.
1. Hilarious playtest video of Pale Night by Shweebe, she's starting out with youtube so give her some support!

2. A longer stream of the demo by AstralAneurism, who played through the beta 3 times in order to find all the prisms! That's what I call dedication! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1013109193
3. Finally, jayonicblaze had some fun speedrunning the demo on new-game+, and even managed to finish it in 3 minutes and 50 seconds, beating my own time by 8 seconds. Wow!
