Hello Racers!
Long time no see, yet we haven't forgotten you, no, no, actually we've been busy on turbocharge!
[insert blow-off valve sound, here]
What happened:
Rebuilt Game
We completely rebuilt the main game from scratch, applying all your previous feedback and our own observations and experiences.
- Added a few more colors While we did aim for a simplistic look with the previous version, it was a bit TOO simple, in the end. So we locked our eyecandy guy into a dark room and didn't let him out till he made everything look more nice, vibrant, colorfull (or colourfull, for our british racers) - just nicer, in the end.
- No waypoints, anymore While a few racers were sad about this, we did away with the "settings your car's waypoints" mechanic. Not only did it never properly work and was only really used by very few people, it was confusing and did consume 60% of all development time. So we decided to drop this little used mechanic and invest those efforts into other parts of the game.
- More cars and skins - and they're ALL unlocked by level now We have WAY more selectable cars and skins, in the game now. Also, there are NO cars or skins anymore for Twitch Bits, there's a wide variety availble form the start and the additional ones are unlocked by the player's level, that rises with collecting experience points for taking part in the races. We currently have cars and skins for up to a player level of 100.
- Stats, global ranking ans seasons Completely new with this version is that we now have detailed stats for each player, that can be viewed directly in the Twitch Extension, and a global leaderboard. You collect your XP and level globally accross all channels where you join the game. Also, to give everyone a chance to make it to the top, and to keep points fair should things drastically change in the balancing, we'll now have seasons, where everyone starts fresh with "0" XP at the beginning of each season - but keeping your current player level!
- Better item mechanic We also changed a bit about using items (boost, bombs, etc.) during the race. You no longer need to get items via Channel Points to then use them in the Twitch Extension, now you can just fire your items directly from the Twitch Extensions, based on a cooldown - less clicks, more fun!
- Channel Points and Bits events We still have Channel Points things, though! You can now trigger track-wide events, hazards or effects using Channel Points or some really special (but totally optional) hazards and events using Twitch Bits for some mass carnage.
Completely New Extension - Now Incl. Mobile
We completely redesigned and made a whole new Twitch Extension, that viewers can use to join the game, customise their car and fire the items.
Now also on mobile!
The Twitch Extension finally, also fully works on all mobile devices - or at least Android and iOS phones and tablets, not sure about that battery powerd toaster or your smart-fridge (while the fridge isn't really mobile, anyways).
Fancy 3D previews
You also now have a nice 3D preview of your chosen car, that rotates so you can get a good view from all sides.
HAPPY RACING!
With that all out of the way, it's time to start your engines!
Enjoy the races, the chaos and it all, and keep the feedback coming so we can make this THE BESTEST Twitch community viewer game, there is. :-)
