Greetings, Candidates! This is the newsletter for November 23, 2021, the second November update. We kind of liked the format from the last update, so we might stick with it for good. It also might not matter as much, but we're trying to be at least a little consistent. The major topics for this update are nodes and scenarios.
Nodes
The progress on node implementation has come a lot further in the past couple of weeks. Where before the nodes were "in the system" but they didn't really have an effect, now you can actually see and target them.

The pink sphere represents the center of the node, while the circle shows the node edges
They are visible in the Sim Screen and, when targeted, they show the amount of Ore remaining and a description of the associated node perk if there is one.

Node info in the top left, these are test values and they are not a representation of the final version
We've discussed this other places but as a reminder, nodes sometimes carry perks in addition to being a supply of Ore. Those perks apply corporation wide bonuses to the corporation which controls the node so long as they have a fully powered, active mine on that node. This perk persists even when the node runs out of Ore, giving permanent incentive for corporations to maintain a presence on certain nodes long after they stop providing resources.
Scenarios
Scenarios are something which we've mentioned a few times broadly, and which come up regularly on Jorden's blog posts, but they are essentially events which occur in the game over the course of play. Their purpose is to break up the normal game loop by presenting the player with unusual situations. Most of them are short, but some have long lasting impacts on the game both narratively and mechanically. Jorden has recently begun integrating a few of the simpler scenarios into Articy where they can be imported to the game by Matt. There's still some infrastructure needed to really support them in the game itself, but this is an important first step in the process of transforming them from scripts written in Word to full-fledged game events ready for player experience. More on this as it develops further.

A look at our project list in Articy. we're so excited to share these stories with you!
That's all for this update, we'll see you all next time! To keep up to date on our progress as well as to be notified as soon as the game is available, make sure to wishlist us on Steam! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1422270/Rank_Warmaster/
