Hello everyone!
Here is the latest update for Gordian Rooms:
- The German translation has been completely reworked thanks to the wonderful work of glaeser.d
- Fixed some typos in the French translation
- Added a counter for the HINT system, now it should be easier to understand why a hint doesn’t change and whether there are more helpful hints
- Added a dedicated back button for all camera scenes so now you can use this as well as the right mouse click
- Added a dedicated menu button, with this you can truly play through the game with just a mouse
- Added key combinations to skip between levels (reasons outlined below)
- Made several optimizations to the game so it should run better on lower end systems
Unfortunately the save system is not very stable and after each update some players reported that their save files were corrupted. This happened to a very small subset of players but it still pains us. So far we have been trying to fix all these issues on a case by case basis, but we realized that it would be much easier to add a shortcut to the game.
So in case your save file happens to be corrupted after the update you can start a new game and just press one of the following key combinations to instantly get to a certain level:
CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+B → Basement
CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+K → Kitchen
CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+L → Lounge
CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+S → Study
Naturally in the Prologue this is only valid for the Basement.
Obviously people can abuse this system but we see little merit in doing so. This is specifically for those cases when you were at the end of the level and you don’t want to replay it because you lost your save game. This way you can continue playing without issues.
You still need to collect the horseshoes and secret messages yourself though!
These are not stored in the save file so it doesn’t matter if your save got corrupted or not.
Again, this issue happens to only a small amount of players and it is quite possible that even after updating your save files will be intact and playable, this should be the default case.
However, if something went wrong now there is an instantaneous solution. All you need to do is start a new game and hit the one of key combinations outlined above.
Naturally, we would love to just resolve the save issues but it is simply impossible due to the nature of the error. That is why we came up with this fix.
For the next game in the Gordian Rooms series we plan on completely rewriting the save system to an automatic one, all the while bearing in mind the issues of this one. Right now we are actively working on developing the game for other platforms like iOS, Android and the Nintendo Switch. We plan on starting the development of the next game after we are done with these.
We read every one of your comments, reviews and we are glad that you seem to like the game.
Thank you for your kind reviews and we hope to do much more in the future!
