Hey folks!
I don't have huge blurbs to give you on our progress - we're working as hard as we can on finishing the game, and we're still on track for Q2. We're getting closer every day, and almost every area of development is just about finished and simply being tied off and polished. We're finally about to finish with bond writing for good sometime in the next two days, and then it's on to finishing up their implementation with expressions and voice lines. With 450 bond conversations, this has been an absolutely gargantuan task, but as we finish up other areas and can focus more heavily on the bonds, it's easing up. It also helps that they've also been a ton of fun to write.
We do have some pretty major pieces of progress, so just to let you know where we're at now:
- All combat animations are finished, including bosses.
- All playable characters now have personal color palettes for their combat sprites.
- All backgrounds are in for both combat and story.
- We're recording the final voice acting for the game this week, and it should be implemented before end of next.
- The maps are getting their final makeovers, but everything we're adding now is simply additional - they're all release-ready.
- We'll be making our final pass over level mechanics and balance next week.
- The only pieces of UI left to go in game are small visual upgrades to some menus.
- We've also been heavily improving optimization and fixing bugs throughout this time as always.
I know it probably feels like you've been waiting forever, but we're right there on the cusp of finishing the game and getting it to you. There will likely be one more monthly update before you get to play the game, but we're in the home stretch for real now, folks.
As always, your patience and support means the world to us, and we appreciate every day that you stand by us as we work to finish this up. We never take that for granted, and we're so excited to make good on the faith you've shown. If you haven't already, please wishlist Dark Deity and share it with your friends.
