Hey folks! New update!
Version 1.3.0a is now available on the beta branch, and via the Steam demo. This version is the one that will be released on the public live branch on June 24th as part of Keysight anniversary celebrations! Without further ado, here is a summary of the main changes:
- Mask mode got changed again. I know I know, I'm sorry, I'm a compulsive mask-mode-er. The overall principle is still the same: using a HLSL shader filter in OBS to achieve nice easy semi-transparency. However, rather than squashing the image and rendering a mask to the other half of the Keysight window, the mask is now encoded into the blue channel of the image without any warping. This gives perfect pixel quality in a way previous mask modes always failed, and on top of this, the way non-masked semi-transparent pixels are displayed is now far more clean and accurate! Check out the guide for updated information on Mask Mode
- Partial controller support! Full disclosure: I added this because I needed it to record a smooth GIF of camera motion for some store page updates, but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it is to alter the camera angle using controller. 3D camera control, note testing, turbo note test toggling, mask mode toggling, and randomizing are all supported via controller. Check out the Controls menu for a full breakdown! Importantly: menu navigation is not supported at this time, as none of the menu elements were built with controller focus flow in mind
- Updated some sub-menus, like Controls to reflect the input additions, and Credits to have easy buttons to find the cool streamer people who help me test and refine Keysight! Additionally, the Graphics tab now has graphics preset buttons that will perform the same tasks as the buttons in the setup wizard, i.e. importing default presets, adjusting randomizer weightings and modifying some system graphics settings
- Pulses can now not have any size animation at all. Why? Because somebody wanted to have pulses simply display an image with no further animation for a set amount of time and it was easy to add. "Smallest size" variable in the Pulses menu now controls the proportion of the target size that the pulse will blend away / to, so a value of 1.0 = no animation as both start and end points are the same
Happy Keysighting! And please do keep the feedback and questions coming in the Steam forums, they are invaluable for informing me how best to continue developing <3
Full changelog:
--- OVERHAULS ---
Changed mask mode *again*. This time, mask mode now does not perform any image transforms, and instead encodes the mask switch into the blue channel. This is still intended to integrate with a HLSL shader in OBS, and the links/instructions in the Steam guide have been updated accordingly. Broadly, this will completely fix the pixel sampling issue leading to image quality loss, and the shader has also undergone an upgrade and behaves much more naturally with semi-transparency! You can also use M as a mask mode keyboard toggle, if you want to quickly revert colours back to normal while editing something
Added controller support for some actions! Primarily intended for fly-cam control, but it also includes bindings for randomizing, toggling mask mode, and some other things. Check out the Controls menu for full mapping information
--- SMALLER ADDITIONS ---
Added graphics preset switch buttons to Graphics menu. These will reimport default presets with the correct graphical preset as well as alter the randomizer accordingly, just like the setup wizard does
Added warning to setup wizard that shows when Keysight is not running in a 16:9 aspect ratio, as this can crop or hide some features (notably the entire keyboard when running 21:9)
Added the special console command of "reset" to the System menu. Typing "reset" and pressing enter in the console command field will delete all save data and reboot Keysight, giving a quick way of migrating to a new Keysight version's default settings if save data is not important
Added keyboard hotkey M (or controller right thumbstick click) as a toggle for mask mode
Added "Smallest size" variable to Pulses. This allows pulses to blend to / away from a non-0 size for highly specific pulse implementations, eg having just an image appear on a pulse without any kind of size animation
--- CHANGES ---
Streamlined mask mode options in Advanced Scene > Component visibilities as the additional options are no longer relevant
Changed mask mode to force 100% resolution scale, as the filtering blur from non-native resolution will cause blue fringes around objects in OBS. (If you really want to see this in action, you can enter mask mode and *then* change resolution scale)
Updated the Credits menu, along with adding buttons to easily find the awesome people who helped out!
Updated the Controls menu to show new controller bindings, and be a bit more readable
--- BUG FIXES ---
Fixed default Core settings having a too-high frame-height, allowing notes to completely exit the screen before shrinking back out
Fixed Basic mode randomizer menu buttons generating bad presets when using Low / Very low graphics preset and clicking "randomize safely"
Fixed Polygons normal map having JPEG compression artefacts. Whoops!
Fixed demo mode midi popup pointing user to the System tab to bind a midi device as opposed to the Midi tab
