Thank you for your continued support of "Wizardry: The Five Ordeals".
After many delays, we are pleased to announce that the Steam version of the game will be available for early access on December 17, 2021 at 9:00 (GMT). We hope you can rest assured that this decision is final.
Not to provide editors in steam, and future policy
Due to various reasons, we have decided not to distribute the editor in steam, at the same time as originally announced for this release. However, this decision does not mean that we disposal the editor plan itself. We will continue to make every effort to release the "editor service" by the end of 2022, if possible.
that after changing the distribution method of editor and redeveloping the editor service in order to provide it with new and expanded functions without any discomfort to the old users. As a result, the previously announced Steam Workshop support for scenarios will be cancelled. (We may consider using the workshop for other purposes, such as distributing portraits by users)
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to former users who were looking forward to the new editor, as well as to new users who were considering starting their own adventure sooner rather than later. As previously announced, the game will be launched in Early Access, as the editor is not functional for the time being and there are many items that cannot be adjusted.
On the other hand, game still have five official scenarios, it first created for this game that can be played for dozens of hours or more each, from the Early Access launch. (but not support except japanese at launch) and this title also provide an environment drom Early Access start where players can play converted scenarios from previous versions of scenarios that existed on the official servers at no additional cost. (There is no way to translate this into English at the time of launch either) We hope you will enjoy the contents without the editor and wait until the editor is available.
With this change, we will also consider adding content such as DLC for the official scenarios "Prisoner of the Battles" and "the Absence of Misericordia" as soon as possible.
There are no major changes to the game client that we were preparing to release from june in regards to the series of changes. However, since we are not supporting Steam Workshop, we have begun to look into adding some form of user scenario evaluation.
Remedies for postponing publication of editors
We are planning to release a tool in the soon that will allow authors of older scenarios to adjust their scenarios for the new version. This will allow you to set up your scenarios public status for the new version (public/private), and to add descriptions to the scenarios for the new version.
As for the release of brand-new scenarios for the new version, until the release of the editor, we will be able to convert and release your own scenarios for the new version if you make a request through the old version's contact page, as long as they do not infringe on the copyrights of other companies or violate the our terms of use.
In the end
Although the repeated postponements have caused anxiety and distrust among many of users, we would like to reiterate that this title has been developed with the official permission of Drecom, the current trademark owner of "Wizardry", and will be released without any problems.
We would like to apologize again to our users for the launch to early access without the editor, which is an most important component of the game.
However, in order for this title to once again approach and surpass the "Five Ordeals" that our users have loved for 15 years, we still have a lot of tough "Ordeal" to go through, such as redeveloping the editor, further refining game itself, and increasing the content.
In order to overcome these "Ordeal", the cooperation of our users is essential.
We hope that you will continue to keep a love on this game and support us in various ways when the game becomes available for early access.
