Greetings, associate!
In our previous communiqué, we talked about the basics of diplomacy in Revival, as well as how reputation and loyalty tie into the system. While the main political powers in the game are factions led by emissaries, one should not discount regular human tribes that have been surviving alongside a mad A.I. ‘God’ for centuries.

To build your first city in Revival, you'll need to find a suitable tribe on the game map and take charge of it. Each tribe carries their own attitude towards other tribes, factions and emissaries, and also values slightly different things (from killing automatons to caring about Totem Trees). Thus, assimilating a tribe could worsen or strengthen your relations with other factions during a game session.
In the future, tribes will also tie into the game’s event system, and we hope to add more game mechanics related to tribe management such as mythologies. But for now, let’s focus on what you’ll experience this June ;)
When you discover a free tribe on the game map, you can:
- leave them alone
- make the tribe chief your vassal
- assimilate them (the tribe disappears from the map and joins the player's city)
- wipe them out
Vassalization is usually the optimal way to coexist, though that can change depending on your playstyle. Tribes that are close to your lands can offer a variety of benefits if you can convince them to become your vassals:
- trade discounts
- reduced cost of purchasing units
- unique resources from the area
- improved relations with other tribes and factions that hold the vassal in high regard
- etc.
The better your relations with a tribe, the better the bonuses that your faction receives.

It is also beneficial to pay attention to inter-tribal relations. Adding two feuding tribes to your empire will negatively impact your relationship with both of them. A tribe may rebel if they dislike actions undertaken by you or the fact that you are giving their foes too much attention. They can even defect to another faction!
But don't worry – you can also attract rebellious tribes from other factions if their mindset seems closer to yours or if they have access to a particular resource that you seek. You can also assimilate troublesome tribes by simply annexing the region they're in. But you may lose a potential ally or a buffer between you and warring free tribes this way, so there’s pros and cons to consider.
That is all for today! We'll talk about tribe mindsets and their effect on gameplay in future posts.
Respectfully,
Revival: Recolonization Team
