Hello to all of Revival’s fans out there! This is the game’s producer, Vasiliy Tedeev.
Before we dive into the new mechanics and changes coming to Revival, I’d like to thank each and every one of you that participated in the Closed Alpha. Your feedback and suggestions were immensely helpful in our attempt to determine what worked well and what didn’t.
Quite a number of the game systems you’ve experienced during the Closed Alpha were either in their infancy or not fully present in the game build. This is something that we plan to address in the coming months, before the game hits Open Alpha.
Here’s what our current roadmap looks like:
- Combat improvements
- Edicts 2.0
- Diplomacy system
- Tribe assimilation update
- UX/UI improvements
Making combat swift and fun
To start things off, our team plans to spend the next two iterations on refining combat. Our goal is to ensure combat scenarios provide a more tactical and worthwhile experience by allowing edicts to play a bigger role in battle, without overshadowing the importance of smart unit positioning and outfitting your troops with the right equipment.

The specific goals for the updated combat system are as follows:
1. Address monotony and reduce the number of easily solvable scenarios – over time, players start seeing the same units and tactics in combat over and over again, which greatly decreases their willingness to engage in such scenarios. Our solution is to provide more opportunities and incentives to try out new tactics with edicts that affect the terrain and various objects on the combat overlay. Think Divinity Original Sin’s interplay between the different elements in combat and you’ll get an idea of what Alex Yegorenkov, the game designer responsible for combat, is going for.
2. Make it swift. Some of the feedback received about combat during the Closed Alpha specifically mentioned the fact that fights are too prolonged, which mirrors our own concerns. So the goal is to make combat as fast as possible, without robbing it of depth.
3. Encourage human input and player creativity. Our team wants to provide more incentives to experiment with the unit editor. Different weapon and armor combinations will (hopefully) provide a more meaningful difference in gameplay rather than just increase attack and defense values.

Discord server soon to launch
Jane and Alexander, who are part of the community management team at HeroCraft PC, are getting ready to launch a discord server for the game fairly soon. This is something that has been requested on several occasions, but we didn’t want to just open a server and forget about it. Instead, Jane and Alexander have prepared something exciting to celebrate the upcoming launch. As much as I want to tell you all about it, now is not the time to spoil the surprise ;)
That’s all for now. Expect one last update to the Closed Alpha build next week, before the team fully focuses on what’s next for Revival: Recolonization.
Stay safe and have fun!
