Season’s greetings from Joy Way!
As we approach the end of the year, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who helped us make 2020 an incredible journey for Joy Way. We’d also like to highlight a few things we’re excited about for 2021!
We started the year by, well, becoming Joy Way. Our rebrand marked a new chapter in our evolution as a company. In line with wider trends in VR world, we made the decision to focus on developing games for home use only. As in-home VR uptake is growing fast along with the availability and capacity of the technology, we’re sure we made the right choice.
We released five prototypes in 2020, and two of them turned into full-fledged games!
The biggest success for us this year was undoubtedly Stride. Starting with our early prototypes for the game, the reaction from the community was obvious. We clearly had a hit.
In 2020, Stride made it as far as Early Access on Steam, but that’s just the beginning. In terms of platforms, we are actively working to ensure that users of Oculus Quest and PSVR can play Stride too. Although the exact date is not entirely in our control, we are confident that the first months of 2021 will see the release of Stride PSVR. As for Oculus Quest, we have a few more hoops to go through, but we are working on it. We hope we’ll have some good news on that front in the very near future.
As for further development of Stride, we are now actively working on the storyline campaign for the game. We are well aware of your high expectations, and we see it as our sworn duty to meet them. We really want to make this game something special!
Looking ahead to 2021, we are super excited about two new prototypes we’re working on. First is a game in the rogue-lite genre. Based on early feedback from our initial prototype, we think we may be onto something with this game, so we’ve decided to bring it to life. Expect further developments soon! The second is a rhythm game. We’re working on a prototype for this now too, and we expect to have it ready for you to test in early January. Special thanks to everyone who has pitched in feedback on these games so far!
Our team grew a lot in 2020. But our community of supporters has grown much more! We want to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you. It’s fantastic to have supporters who love VR as much as we do. Earning your positive feedback is a big part of what drives us to work hard every day.
Many thanks as well to all journalists and bloggers who supported us this year, and of course, to everyone who played our games. Together we are making a positive contribution to the future of VR.
Stay tuned for more news from Joy Way and get ready for another great year!
With love,
Joy Way Team ❤️
