Hey,
In addition to working on Endless Mode, another part of the STRIDE development team is working on a second arcade mode: The Arena.
The Arena is a sandbox with built-in level generation and bots. In this mode, the player will be able to cheerfully shoot at bots, engage in melee (such as pushes and stuns) with bots, and, of course, dodge attacks using parkour skills and stealthy approaches. We will use bot mechanics developed and perfected with this mode for a large campaign down the line.
In the highlighted slice of gameplay, you’ll notice bots are more successful at detecting the player by hearing the noise of movement and shots. They are also now more skilled at shooting.
We are currently working on improvements in animations relating to hitting players, movement, and more interesting and varied variations of the character's death. We experimented with the X-Sense suit to record fall animations. It turned out that recording fall animations is quite problematic, since when a body collides with a hard surface, the sensors get confused and the animation looks dirty. Thanks to this observation, we are now working on a more advanced blend of physics and animation.
We want to teach bots to detect shelters and establish communication with each other so that they understand where the player is and can strategize their response.
The video shows a small cut of the gameplay as it looks now.
Thank you,
Joy Way Team
