Hi folks! I’m Joe, one half of the development team on DEVOUR. We’ve been busy working on the game and we’re now ready to share some more details with you.
Gameplay trailer
A game is only as good at its trailer, right? At least, thats what all the marketing folks tell me anyway. So we made one. Hope you like it.
Features we’ve been working on
Let me introduce to you some of the major features we've been polishing over the last few months.
The gang
You will take on the role of cult members (from left to right) Nathan, Molly, Zara and Sam. You’ll be happy to know we’ve added emotes (with voice overs) so that you can spam your favourite lines until you get kicked from Discord.
Anna
Meet Anna. She doesn’t usually look like this. Unfortunately for her, she messed up a ritual and now she’s having to deal with goat demon Azazel who’s using her body as a vessel.
Goats
Your primary goal in DEVOUR is to stop Anna before she takes you to hell with her. To do this you'll need to find gasoline, a fire pit, and enough sacrificial goats to burn.
Demons
Relentless little buggers. These used to be your fellow cultists, but Azazel burned them and is now using their bodies to stop you.
Storm
Over the course of the game, you’re going to make Azazel very mad. Mad enough that he’ll start bringing down the wrath of zeus on you in our dynamically scaling storm system.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of game is DEVOUR?
We’re creating a survival horror experience that is fun to play with your friends. You can expect fast-paced gameplay where you will have to work together to defeat a possessed cult-leader.
How many players are supported?
DEVOUR can be played online with up to 4 players or offline in single-player mode.
When will it be released?
We’re targeting January 2021. However, we will release a public demo in October for the Steam Games Festival. This will provide you with a generous portion of the game for completely free. If you enjoy it, please show us your support and add DEVOUR to your wishlist!
How long will it be?
The initial release of DEVOUR will have a very palatable play time of roughly 1 - 2 hours.
How much will it cost?
We want the game to be playable by you and all your friends, so we’ll be selling it for about the price of a Big Mac.
What about The Watchers?
If you’ve been brave enough to play The Watchers, you may be relieved to know that the gameplay style of DEVOUR is quite different. DEVOUR is technically a prequel to The Watchers. However, it is a bite-sized survival horror game for 1-4 players whereas The Watchers was a longer stealth puzzle game for 1-2 players. We like the universe that we built with The Watchers and wanted to build upon it.
Who makes this game?
I split the work with Luke Fanning. We also get a little help from my brother Andrew and sister Hannah.
