CEST: 20:00 Saturday July 18th - 12:00 Sunday July 19th
Pacific: 11 AM Saturday July 18th - 3 AM July 19th
Rules
Record a video of yourself playing the game fair and square from the first level to the last. You'll have to record the game video on your PC, using version 0.0.3 of the game or later so you can get the built-in timer overlay. The new version of the game will be released at the same time the contest starts!
The timer starts on your first grab on the first level and stops when you press the green button on the last level. No level skipping allowed - if you use level select, the timer cancels and you will have to go back to the first level to reset it.
You can play the levels in whichever way you want, as long as you don't cheat. What counts as cheating?
Here are some examples of cheating:
- Glitching through walls
- Moving your spawn point to get closer to the button
- Grabbing things that aren't supposed to be grabbable (looking at you, Larvey!)
These are some intended game mechanics that we encourage (not cheating):
- Tossing yourself straight towards the button
- Taking shortcuts by jumping across obstacles
- Using the momentum of moving objects
Basically, no glitching!
Submissions
You can submit your speedruns either through Reddit or Twitter. If your video is too big to upload directly to one of those sites, you can first upload it to YouTube, Imgur or something similar. Make sure the video is public and please mention #TossVR.
If you're using Twitch to stream and record your speedrun, you can submit the VOD. Please timestamp your submission to the speedrun you would like us to look at.
- Submit your video on the /r/TossVR subreddit
- Title it something along the lines of "[07 : 23 : 015] TOSS!🍌 Speedrun" (replace with your actual time obviously)
- Add the “SPEEDRUN” flair after posting
- Post your video to Twitter, using the hashtag #TossVR and mentioning us at @TossVR
- Make sure to mention the time you got in your tweet
You're also very welcome to share your speedruns in the #toss-speedrun channel on our Discord server. That way we'll be sure not to miss the submission!
