Hello Captains,
With our latest update v0.8.3, we’ve introduced the very first iteration of Passenger Transport Missions in Ships At Sea. This is an exciting new step for us, and although it is still in its early phase, it already lays the foundation for much bigger things to come.
First Iteration – What’s In Now
In this version, you’ll be able to pick up and transport a few NPC passengers. The mission is fully playable, but as with all first iterations, there’s room for improvement. We’re already planning refinements such as:
More polish to the overall mechanic
Better feedback and immersion for the player
Next Steps – Expanding the Experience
We’ve already started work on the next evolution of passenger gameplay:
Kiosk on Tier 3 Service Ship – You will be able to run a small onboard kiosk to serve your passengers. Items such as snacks and drinks can be purchased from the tool shop—everything from pizza to kanel snuter—so you can stock your kiosk with plenty of variety. With this approach, we’re opening up for a more authentic ship operation experience while sailing.
Passenger Satisfaction – Rewards will later be tied not only to completing the mission, but also to how happy your passengers are with the journey. The better you take care of them, the more rewarding the experience will be.
Looking Ahead – Ferry Operations
The Passenger Transport Mission is more than just a small side activity—it sets the groundwork for ferry operations. In future updates, you won’t just transport a handful of passengers, but also vehicles and larger groups, adding depth and variety to your gameplay.
Final Thoughts
This is just the beginning of a new gameplay layer in Ships At Sea. As with all features in Early Access, your feedback will be vital in shaping how the game evolves. We’re eager to keep expanding the systems and activities available to you, bringing even more depth and variety to ship operations, and we look forward to sharing more as development progresses.
See you at sea,
