Every expedition starts with the preparation of the necessary gear.
Climber: Sky is the limit is no different.
The smallest thing you'll pack into your backpack before you set off can be decisive in your journey to the top.

Depending on your prestige level and the funds you have available to acquire items of various qualities.
Each piece of equipment improves your chances of conquering the mountain in some way:

- Protect you from the harsh weather conditions - increasing your maximum temperature stat
- Allow for more freedom of movement, being more comfortable - increasing your maximum stamina
- Utilize lighter materials - lowering the overall weight of your equipment

- Provide light (nighttime summit push will be almost infeasible without it), better headlamps will provide more light.
- Batteries provide extra illumination time, better batteries provide even more.

- Allow for very steep and icy wall climbing
- High-tier ice axes, thanks to better ergonomy, allow for more efficient climbing - lower stamina consumption during traversing ice walls
- Better Ice axes consist of lighter materials - lowering the overall weight of equipment

- Extra belay, especially handy when traversing extremely slippery terrain
- Depending on the topography you'll use Hooks (rocks), Ice screws (ice), or Picket (snow) as a facilitator.
- High-tier ropes are lighter and longer than their budget counterparts.

- Allow for traversing crevasses, you'll normally have to get around
- One of the heaviest in-game items, better models are a bit lighter, while maintaining durability.

- All the necessary equipment you'll need to set up a camp and rest during an expedition.
- Resting regains your Stamina, Mental Condition, and Body Temperature while waiting out difficult weather conditions, or night.
- High-tier tents are lighter
- High-tier sleeping mats provide you with a better and longer well-rested bonus (lowers stamina, mental health, and body temperature falloff)
- High-tier sleeping bags allow for health parameters regeneration even in very low outside temperature

- Eating regenerates your Stamina, Mental Condition, and Food
- A warm meal (must be prepared with the gas stove and a mess tin in the tent) will regenerate health parameters more than a cold one. It will raise and your body temperature too!
- Some food can have additional effects on your climber.
Now you know the basic in-game gear and will be ready to set off when the time comes.
