The mighty Imperatus have arrived! A faction of fast spreading and scavenging ratlings who specialize in necromantic bonecraft, poisonous plaguecraft and blast powder explosives.
We think they are a lot of fun to play, and are excited to hear what you think.
We also added a number of updates and fixes to the game today, taking us another big step forward with Godking:
General
- Added red danger indicators for when moving into a tile will result in combat, and green indicators for when independants will join you. This has made the world map a lot easier to read at a glance.
- Added colored arrow movement markers when setting multi-tile paths. Green for the tiles you will move through this turn, grey for all following turns. If the last tile initiates an attack, it will be colored red.
- Added auto-stop for armies that discover new enemies when using multi-tile and multi-turn pathing. Your armies will stop and give back manual control if they discover a new enemy army in or along their path, allowing you to make adjustments if needed.
- Added randomization of unit idle animations to battles. A small change with a nice visual impact.
- Added UI sounds to most actions in the game. This is the first step and there is tuning left that will happen over the next few weeks, but we are already very happy with how it lifts Godking to new heights.
- Added ambient sounds to the world and battlemaps. Similar to the UI sounds, this new addition has worked out really well, and makes the world come much more alive than before.
- Added volume sliders for sound effects and ambient sounds under options. We recommend keeping these relatively low for now, until we can get everything smoothed out and tuned.
- Added button to access Manage Armies to holding/recruitment UI. Also added direct access to manage Armies by right-clicking any commander on the world map with the mouse. This makes it quicker to access for players that prefer to play with a mouse only, and much easier to find for new players.
Content
- Added new player faction Imperatus to the game. These ratling scavengers bring 40 new units to Eliador and specialize in necromantic and plague based magic, giving them combat spells that fear, blind and poison enemies.
- Added new incarnation Bonerat Emperor to the game. This formerly influential ratling monarch has returned from his grave to lead and rule once more. He has a powerful area of effect fear spell that will send enemies fleeing, and he can summon a variety of units that can all enter water tiles with him.
- Re-added 14 currency giving artifacts to the game. These can be found all over Eliador.
- Added two new wandering encounters to the game, which will both join Imperatus players.
Fixes
- Fixed an issue causing defenders on walls to not correctly get a temporary bonus to their army power score. This is now added into the calculation and reflected on the tooltip power score sum of garrisons behind a wall.
- Fixed an issue where manually clicking through armies would not correctly take commanders out of the command rotation cycle (SPACE), causing you to have to cycle through them one more time before you could end the turn. This would make turns take longer than needed, and could feel frustrating if you play this way
- Fixed an issue where surrendering the game and going back to the main menu could cause an exception
- Fixed an issue where not having enough a resource to build a holding upgrade, would display the wrong resource missing in the notification window
While we are continuing our usual “forward in all directions” development strategy, a lot of our attention is currently on improving the AI so it becomes a more challenging opponent. We are in the process of adding an improved awareness layer for it, and so far results are very promising.
Hope you are enjoying the game! We will be back soon with more. Feel free to join us on Discord if you haven’t already. We absolutely love talking about Godking, and would like to chat to more of you :)
