It's great to see the number of level-editor created maps continuing to grow, and we are having a LOT of fun trying them out in Firefight mode. We already picked a few of our faves in a previous post, but thought it would be cool to start what will, we hope, be a regular feature that shines a spotlight on some of the community maps.
GRID (created by 'Campion')

A big ol' sprawling arena, this is a homage map (we love homage maps!) inspired by the Perfect Dark multiplayer map of the same name. After you kick open the doors and enter the vast opening area, it's pretty much intense, non-stop shooting all the way. To make it extra spicy, the map supports the Triple Threat mutator, which effectively turns it into a rad horde mode with a total count of 175 enemies!
HYPER-SELECTOR (created by 'Haast')

It takes a few runs to get familiar with the layout and enemy positions, but - once you do - getting from the start to finish points on this map is an absolute blast. From the very stylish neon-lit nightclub opening area, the level takes you deeper through a cool variety of environments that offer plenty of wall-running, sliding, and diving opportunities. Just make sure you get all the enemies along the way.
SUNSET CITY (created by 'Candybober')

The expansive, sepia-tinged arena combines open and tight spaces, as well as the opportunity to get high thanks to a few towering buildings (fun to access via updraft from well positioned fans). There are also a couple of portals for speedy traversal from one end of the map to the other in the blink of an eye. Oh, and did we mention there are also 75 enemies to plug?
MELON (created by 'SpaceBunny57')

This sprawling, multi-roomed, multi-floored map adorned with ornaments and artworks has an opulent mansion feel, giving it a cool, cocaine kingpin / crime-lord HQ vibe. A perfect setting, then, for some glorious, unbridled gunplay, and shooting your way through spacious, goon-filled rooms as you ascend is pure catharsis.
DON'T FORGET!
These are just some of the maps we've been enjoying lately, but there are plenty others to try – be sure to open up Workshop and have a browse for yourself. Huge thanks to all mapmakers – we love what you're doing! For anyone wanting to get involved but not sure how to get started, join the Severed Steel Discord and head to the dedicated level editor channels for advice, guidance, and feedback.
And if you enjoy playing any of the community-created maps, please show your appreciation by giving a positive rating.
