Devlog #11 - Residences: New Types

Cartel Tycoon is a survival business sim where you play and conquer as a succession of drug lords. The Early Access version is available now on Steam with a limited 20% discount lasting only this weekend - tell your friends about it! We at Moon Moose want our players to rule the world of Cartel Tycoon and truly build their very own 80s drug empires… And we think you should do it in style. Today we’ll talk about one of the major changes that will be introduced in the upcoming update that will be released on June 23.
One of our main goals is making the game more customizable for every player. In the upcoming update, among other things, we will introduce new and exciting ways that will fit the style of your Capo… and your playstyle. And what’s one of the best ways of showing the world what kind of empire you’re running? Your residence.
In the June update we will introduce four types of residencies you can build and manage your empire from. Of course, earning them won’t be easy but remember that each type comes with its own benefits for you, your lieutenants and your shady business. Let’s talk about all of them in detail
Do you always feel like somebody's watching you? Then Paranoid Residence is your pick. State-of-the-art satellites and machine guns will make sure that nobody... unwanted hears or sees you. You can hide there and continue your business in the shadows. Your lieutenants can and should hide with you - their power will increase for a limited amount of time after they leave this residence. Complete the game in the Survival Mode to earn it.
If your Capo feels like he’s just on another level of fame - you should pick a Pretentious Residence. Yes, of course, it comes with giant statues and a fountain. You won’t be able to miss it. And your money won’t just be used for show - upkeep for all the buildings in the radius of your residence will become significantly cheaper. Unlock all regions to get this one.
Do you feel like you were born in the wrong generation? You should show off your thoughts with a Modern Residence. Slick design, high windows… It feels like a Hollywood mansion of a very wealthy businessman with a legit business! And modern means fast - all the production in all of the buildings in the radius of the residence will take much less time. Get all the Golden Emblems and it’s yours.
Your terror is at an all-time low and all the residents love you? Why not build a Party Residence! Ah, the music, the drinks and constant disco. Show everyone that you just love them from the bottom of your glass! The word about you spreads far and wide, making more people want to join your cartel - the number of lieutenants you can recruit will increase by one and their experience will be earned at a faster rate. Unlock all the bosses to get the party started.
Of course, Residencies isn’t the only change coming in the June update. We at Moon Moose and tinyBuild always monitor your feedback and suggestions.
