You’re watching Cartel Tycoon’s Devlog number 13! Today we want to talk about something spooky: levels of Terror system and about the authorities represented by each star.
You’re just starting out but you are not willing to be careful so you are traveling with your dirty money through cities that aren’t yours yet. Maybe you even try capturing a couple of farms belonging to your competitors. Each of these actions results in your Terror rising. If you won’t stop you’ll reach the first level: The DEA.
Well, congratulations, your cartel is on the map now. But, not in a good way. DEA is checking borders for your goods - and if they find anything - they’re confiscating some of your hard-earned produce. You should be more careful now… Wait, what are you doing? Why are you starting a gang war for this port? This will attract…
The Police. And now a cut from your goods on the border isn't your only problem. Police are checking your smuggling points and other suspicious buildings. If they find anything - your building is seized for a limited time. You can buy it back, sure, but it will cost a lot of Legal Money. If you don’t want your building to be seized - don’t let too much produce stay in for too long. When you see a police convoy on the road - stop your operation and clean the building. Maybe they will let it slide. But the Federales surely won’t.
Federales won’t seize just one building - they will be seizing the whole area. Place your farms, plantations, and warehouses in several different locations, and your whole operation won’t be affected by just one raid. Oh, your cities are not safe anymore - Federales can seize suspicious city buildings too. So don’t launder too much money when they’re on the hunt. You don’t want to attract the Army, are you? Are you?
Are you happy now? The National Army isn’t asking any questions - your cities are blockaded, borders too. Your goods aren’t seized, it’s too late for that. Your shipments are destroyed when you attempt to send them through the blockaded border or sneak into a blockaded city. You need to build new roads and find new ways to smuggle. Just don’t let the Terror rise any further or results will be… explosive.
You thought blockades were bad? How about everything you own being blown up? The CIA is watching you like a hawk and if anything - ANYTHING - suspicious happens on your property, your farms, warehouses, labs… are getting blown up. Are those the fireworks you wanted? I didn’t think so. Just don’t go any further and maybe you will stay alive.
You’re in the endgame now. You and your lieutenants are hunted and killed by the US Army. Your precious empire crumbles before your eyes and you will be remembered as just another Capo who could’ve had it all but was too reckless for their own good. It’s the end of your story. But it isn’t the end for your Cartel.
Cartel Tycoon offers multiple ways to deal with Terror. You can bribe Mayors to decrease the Terror or freeze the stars you’ve already accumulated. Use this time to optimize your logistics and find new ways to expand. Of course, it won’t be enough if you have already reached the highest level of Terror. Remember: Empires don’t end with your Capo’s death. Just assassinate them and they will die knowing that The Cartel will prosper with a different, more elegant Capo.
