Every anime fan, dreams about making an anime. Fans love manga and wish for its anime adaption.
Yet only a few have a real idea of what it takes to make an anime, only a few understand complex dynamics behind anime production.
Producing an anime is a laborious task, multiple companies and an enormous amount of manpower is behind every production.
With Anime Studio Tycoon I made an honest attempt to explaining anime creation in a fun way. I will explain many different parts of the anime production following weeks.
Anime Production Part 1
Anime production is very labour intensive, stakes are really high for every company involves in the production also it takes years to earn profit from anime. The total budget for an average of 12 episodes turns into $4-5million.
Only a few companies are rich enough to invest that much in a single show. If it flopped then they lost all money result into forming of production committee basically bunch of companies comes together and throw in few of bucks for-profit percentage. Following are different companies with different occupation comes together and form a committee.
- Production Studio
- TV Network
- Ad agency
- Merch licensing
- Foreign Distributor
- Domestic Distributor
Anime Studio Tycoon also follows the same pattern for creation. Based upon the reputation of your studio different committee will give you a contract. The main source of income of anime’s come by increased manga sales due to the effect of an anime also merchandising sales and DVD sales. Note that in such committee’s production studio didn’t get any royalty share from manga sales or merchandising but they get fixed budget for every episode and they didn’t need to handle other parts like paying for TV Slots or dealing with a distributor. Once your studio becomes big and has enough money you can create your own production committee by inviting other companies or producing anime alone.
In the next part I will share more about economy of anime production.
