Wings looks like a pretty casual experience, but learning how to fly is like learning a new sport! I will be working with a local VR business to teach people how to fly this evening. This is an opportunity to experience the multiplayer aspect of the game for anyone who wants to see other people taking flight.
On a side note, I apologize for providing almost zero instruction on how to play my game. I will plan on making a tutorial video where I teach the basics and show off what you can do with your wings. In the meantime, here are some tips on how to fly and control your character!
- The right joystick/touchpad lets you follow your flyer while touching it. Click it to toggle on and off. Clicking it at the top position will combine your player and flyer together.
- Your flight direction is entirely based on your wing positions. If you want to turn, move your arms! You can change your flight angle by tilting your wrists.
- Keep your wings spread out! If they are in front of your face, you create less thrust and more drag.
- Don't flail your arms! An simple up/down motion with both hands is all you need to build speed and go up.
- The quickest way to lose speed is to move your arms from back to front with your wings spread out and tilted toward the sky.
- (Advanced) If you want to gain a huge speed burst, spread your wings out and tilt them towards the ground, move your arms front to back (a butterfly stroke), then bring your wings parallel to the ground and flap up/down to keep your altitude steady.
- If all else fails, think like a bird!
It's hard to learn this by telling you how to do it, so I hope you get to learn by example!
Also, I made a Discord server for anyone who wants to ask questions, report bugs, submit feedback, or post pictures of cats. Here's a link!
Enjoy your flight!
