After over two years of silently researching, preparing, designing and building, we are very proud to announce FESTIVALS - HEADLINERS will be coming to Steam VERY SOON! Even though we haven’t widely announced our game yet, we are already seeing some wishlisting happening, which is very exciting!
Here, we would like to provide you with a short update on the current status of development, and what you can expect in the coming months. We want to update this channel at least once a month with what we’ve been building - so be sure to check back here once a while!
We started work on the game initially in 2019. Due to the scalability of the simulation (running a simulation like this for thousands of visitors is quite hefty!) we had to go back to the drawing board. Over the past 2 years, we've rebuilt the simulation, where now we are at a point that we are comfortable running the size of simulation we want to be able to run (40k guests) on "normal" gaming PC's.
Right now we are rebuilding parts of our original frontend, both to work with the new simulation system, and use the latest render technology to make the simulation more beautiful & efficient.. This gives us amazing power when working with lights, fireworks, but also how nature, and your visitors, are visualised on your screen. We've seen the first fruits of our labour from this, and it is something to get very excited about.
Once initial work on the frontend is done and everything is running somewhat smoothly, we'll begin our closed alpha testing phase. If that's something you might be interested in, please read the "testers wanted" section below.
From there on we'll go into "maintenance mode" until the initial "early" release (on steam), meaning we'll focus on getting what we have to work perfectly and implementing feedback gained from our testers, without adding new features. We will however continuously keep adding assets to the game, such as objects to place on your festival site, but also new maps, and perhaps even new characters & animations.
