We have been thinking for a very long time and finally have decided. The game will be divided into 5 episodes that will be released as they are done.
An episodic release will simplify our work greatly, alleviate a financial burden and will provide you with updates. The 2nd episode will be released only after completing the work on a draft of the common route, story logic and approval of all game mechanics. Besides, episodicity will allow us to expand the script, write more additional scenes, increase the number of CGs and improve the quality of the game in general. The downside is the game engine (Ren'Py), which can break save files with an update of the game build (although we will try hard to avoid it).
Good points:
- Regular updates;
- Major episodes (~ 4-5 hours of play);
- The ability to influence the development process by your feedback;
- Support the project;
- More content in the game.
Bad points:
- Probably non-working save files;
- Waiting for a new episode.
