If you've gotten this far, I would also like to say a few words about life, Death and Taxes, and everything.
It's been over 8 months now since the release of Death and Taxes and it's been strange and amazing at the same time. We didn't expect this level of reception and we are still surprised every day at how many new people get into the game and share their experiences with us. We have a wonderful community (Yot, y'all, you know who you are) and perhaps most notably, we've heard accounts from people having played the game thinking about what death means for them. Thinking about how it has affected their lives and how it has shaped them as people. This is what we set out as our main goal when creating the game. We didn't want to force our own thoughts on all the people playing the game, rather, we wanted to create an entry point. Something neat, funny and stress-free so that people could enjoy themselves while playing and also to contemplate. This has led to some of the most interesting public and private conversations I've had, and it's amazing to see that we did in fact succeed with our main goal.
When we decided to make this update, it was a direct response to all of your feedback and your cherishment for the game (we have over a THOUSAND reviews here, what???). We wanted to put in the things we didn't have the time for initially, and to add or fix things that echoed the most when talking to you. Now this has been done, and while we will continue to support the game if issues do prop up somewhere, in all likelyhood, we won't be adding any more content. We have a specific vision when it comes to this game, and we don't want to compromise that experience too much: short and bittersweet.
So, as we near this holiday of spirits... spare a thought for those who are not beside us anymore in these times, but whom we still carry within us, and celebrate their spirits in both life and whatever comes after.
Thank you so much, for everything. Seriously <3
Much love,
Death and Taxes
