Road to 1.0

Trading Cards

Maybe you were asking yourself, how can a card game not have steam trading cards?? So here we go! We have added 8 trading cards, 6 Badges, 5 steam profile backgrounds (3 common, 1 uncommon, and 1 rare), and 5 Icons to use on the steam chat.

Road to 1.0

Here are some thoughts and background story I wanted to share with you guys, our goals and objectives moving forward to 1.0.

First off I want to talk a bit about our backgrounds and about how Urban Cards was conceived. We are a team of two ppl: myself, Daniel Tapia, creator, designer, and artist wearing many different hats. And my friend Arturo Cepeda, the guy behind the technology and mechanisms that make the game run smoothly. We met while working in a German company that makes AAA games and we became friends. At some point and after a few Weizenbiers, we started fantasizing about the idea of going just a little indie and making our own original little games. In our free time. Just for fun.

After that, I moved to the west coast of Canada to work in the film industry for big Hollywood productions. And after working on many superhero movies I realized that what I really wanted to do was to start building something of my own.
I started working on a physical version of the game about 5 years ago, with the idea of creating a distinguishable and unique card battler that let the players fight for money in a competitive and unfair satirized world.
The main idea was to have players compete for money rather than killing the opponent physically. So the main victory condition was there.
At the time I met a lot of people in North America with huge student loan debt so I thought it would be an interesting idea to have something persistent like that in the game as a secondary victory condition.

So things started to look interesting and promising and I quit my day job to release the Early Acces and to have more time to organize the project. During this time, I became a dad, so things got busier. <3 Parenting and going full indie at the same time was quite scary but we managed to make it work and we released the Early Access. And now it's time to launch 1.0.

We are planning to release the full game around Jan/Feb 2021, adding new cards (around ~15) and content, a History menu that stores past runs data, and other things. We also want to polish PvP and the campaign a bit more. With the addition of new cards and enemies, we think the game will be a lot more replayable.
Here's a sample of the new cards coming along with the remodeling of some of the BIZ

Localization

Adding more languages is also on our list. We actually have just added Simplified Chinese to the game!!. This way we can hopefully reach more people and keep supporting the game in the long run.
Localizor has been great for us to let the community help with this massive task.
