Hello Dispatchers!
Hope that you’re doing well and having a great early Autumn. We’ve got some great new content planned for release soon, and we thought that we’d tell you a little about it -- so stay tuned!
Revamped Tutorial
Our first announcement (and the soonest, releasing in November...) is that we’re implementing a new and improved tutorial experience! This new tutorial is designed to ease players into the game whilst making sure the experience is as painless as possible. We had some confusion with the previous tutorial, so we’ve addressed all of your concerns and suggestions to streamline the experience and make it great! Check out the teaser:
This tutorial will also be introducing you to Jozic - an old dispatcher with a lifetime of experience, who will act as your guide throughout the tutorial (and potentially, beyond)...
Upcoming Story
Once you’ve gotten to known Jozic through the tutorial, you’ll find that he’s a kindly, sweet man - and that he has a whole lifetime of stories to tell and anecdotes to share! We’re planning a ‘story mode’ to not only allow you to get to know Jozic better, but to add a whole new element to the gameplay experience.
We’re planning this story mode to be completely dynamic - meaning that it won’t impact your creativity or freedom at all - and you’ll still be able to play in the way that you choose, creating the routes that you love. We’re coming up with some new features to allow you to experience and play through Jozic’s thrilling and sometimes unusual tall tales -- we’ll provide some more information closer to the time, but for now, it’s safe to say that we can’t wait to show you what we have in store.
We hope that Jozic will help you to get along and enjoy the pure relaxed experience of Rail Route. This story will hopefully help all the people that are struggling now to get the right grasp of the game. We don't have a release date for the whole story but we will be releasing bits especially focused on the tutorial during various updates.
Meet the narrative designer
That’s about it for the news -- but we’ll be sure to update you when the time comes. I’d love to take a second to introduce myself quickly, though. Hi! I’m Aidan -- I joined the RailRoute team as a narrative designer at the beginning of September. So far I’ve designed the new tutorial and had the pleasure of writing Jozic’s narration, and I’m having an incredible time - it’s great to be a part of the community!
If you have any questions or suggestions about the narrative (or just want to chat) I’m @Aidan#7172 in Discord, so feel free to ping me.
Thanks very much!
That’s all for now, and thanks very much for reading. Feel free to leave any thoughts under this article -- I’d love to know what you think.
Next time, Angel will tell you what else you can expect in the following 1.2 content update. It will bring new System Upgrades in the contracts category!
Happy Dispatching!
Aidan
