Humanity Arrives
It may surprise you to learn that Setback was never intended to be a game about robots. While the robots will always hold a special place in our hearts, it's high time for humanity to make its entrance into the world of Setback.
Make it personal by customizing your Setback athlete. Setback now has human character models with customizable gender, skin color, and cosmetics!
Returning Game Mode: Safe Zone
Safe Zone is returning as a playable game mode alongside Bomb Tag. In Safe zone you must fight against other players to stay withing designate green safe zones while a timer slowly ticks down. When the timer reaches zero, anyone outside of the safe zone is eliminated.
Leaderboards
Setback now has leaderboards. No more claiming you're the best Setbacker around, you can finally prove it!
Requeue: Join A New Game of Setback After Elimination
As fun as it is to sit back for a minute and watch a match unfold, we recognize that sometimes you just want to jump right into a new game. After being eliminated you can now immediately jump into a new game of Setback.
Squads: Queue With Your Friends
The ability to queue up and play with your friends has been a long requested feature. We're happy to announce that you can finally invite up to 8 of your friends through steam to join you in Setback.
When in a squad only the party leader will be able to start the queue. If you are eliminated early in a match, you can either spectate until the beginning of the new round or leave the squad and requeue alone.
Progression System
It's important to us that players are properly rewarded for their playtime and growing skill. With that in mind we have integrated a progresssion system. After each match, you are granted cash based on your playtime and placement in the match. Besides bragging about how rich you are, this cash can be used to buy cosmetics (clothes and emotes) in the main menu.
Bots
We love are Setback robots (Setbots as we call them) and with the introduction of Humanity we didn't want them to fade into history. Our Setbots are now used as bots that will fill the missing amount of players during matches. The Setbots aren't used to their new role yet and as such they aren't the smartest robots out there. We will continue to fine tune them as Setback develops.
New Maps
We will have a variety of rotating maps during Steam Next Fest. Some new, some updated. Play Setback to try them out for yourself and leave your feedback in our Discord!
New Cosmetics
Use your hard earned Setbucks to purchase a wide variety of cosmetics. Need a new tophat? How about some stylish shoes? Deck out your Setback athlete and style on your opponents.
