Wind Runners puts you at the heart of the Resistance fighting to liberate the Zera Igna System from the Realm's control. Our goal for Early Access: free the Zera Igna System planets from the grip of the Realm, one run after another.
This is the second episode of our devblog series. In it, we introduce you to the bosses guarding each world and their Cardinal Beasts; the deadliest ships ever created.
Behind every Saint stands The Admiral, commanding the fleet you'll have to fight through before ever reaching the boss. Admirals lead the armada, control the territory , and bring their own ship into the fight.
Today, we're introducing the Admiral of Drodara and his Warship.
The Admiral of Drodara
The Admiral led the invasion of Drodara and is now working to expand and stabilize the Realm's occupation. By order of the Realm, his name and deeds are never meant to outshine those of the Saints.
The Warship
The Warship is a massive killing machine, bristling with turrets that unleash a relentless stream of fire, strong single shots, closer to plasma bolts than lasers or homing missiles.
It plays like a giant frigate: multiple zones scattered across its hull, each one a separate target you'll need to destroy one after another to damage the Warship. Its guns keep firing throughout, so you'll need to stay on the move at all times.
The key is reading its rhythm. Between volleys, the Warship has brief windows where its fire slows down. That's your cue to slow your ship, commit everything you've got to the current zone, and deal as much damage as possible, then pull out fast before it opens up again and turns the sky into a firestorm.
The verdant world of Drodara
Drodara is an idyllic world, its lush green landscapes and deep blue basins evoking Southern Europe, a striking contrast to the aggressive, dangerous forces defending it.
The Admiral’s Armada
On Drodara, the armada fights with fast, simple single shots, fired in large numbers. As the first planet, it's designed to ease you into piloting your ship, with enemies that are more approachable while you learn the ropes. You'll be facing:
Trains: unarmed, they transport the Realm's materials and technology across the planet.
Chasers: the most common jets in the fleet, fast and relentless, always closing the distance to stay on your tail.
Bases: fire a series of single shots, but telegraph the attack first with a laser targeting reticle, giving you a chance to react.
