Weekly Dev Update #25
Week of October 5, 2020
This week at Mutant… we continued all the features we’ve been showing!
I know that’s not the most exciting feature update, but that’s really the process. We have UI art, different assets, resources and crafting, and medium fishing are all well in the works. So what’s our plan with them?
DEMO UPDATE PLANS
While all these things will obviously be making their way into the full game’s release next year, we are looking to add some of these to the Kaiju Fishing Demo on Steam. We aren’t planning to update the environment or add much in the way of story, but medium fishing and other features are planned to be added. Some of this we’ve talked about before, but figured we would talk about it again now to elaborate on those plans.
Our next major update to the Demo will include:
- Medium Fishing: By far the most exciting upgrade, we’ll be adding a few medium fish to the areas and let you experience the next level of fish sizes.
- Crafting and Baits: This will be a more limited experience than the full game, but we do want to give you a taste of swapping baits and crafting new baits.
- Portals: In the Demo, this will likely just be a visual update but portals are part of our plan going forward so we want to introduce them into the Demo.
- Visual effects: We’ve updated our process to give us more freedom in using visual effects, so there’s a few we’ve had on our end that we’re excited to show off. You might notice one in the clip from last week’s update - pay attention to the front of the boat!
- QoL updates and Mouse/Keyboard support: Our initial Demo was controller-only, but we will be updating the demo to better support the platform and also fix up some bugs and such.
We're also in the process of updating our Steam store page with some new art and updated descriptions.
