Weekly Dev Update #14
Week of July 6
It’s been a few weeks since our last update, but we’re back! Our progress the last few weeks was mostly focused on behind the scenes things on our end, so we figured we’d save the details for a singular update! Now we’re back and hitting the ground running.
THE FESTIVAL
Let’s talk about the Steam Festival from a few weeks ago! Some technical hiccups aside for our streams, the Festival was a lot of fun. We played some demos, wishlisted a lot of other Indies, and gathered some feedback on our own demo!
If you played the Kaiju Fishing Demo, you’re our favorite kind of person <3 Thanks so much for trying the game. We have a lot of things we want to add, but we are always excited to share what we’re working on!
STEPPIN’ UP
Part of our process post-Festival is updating our Unity project. Kaiju Fishing needed to be bumped up a few versions in order to fully implement our water asset (Crest) and add new effects and visuals. Our talented programmer has been working diligently on updating the project and making sure everything still works afterwards. It’s not particularly glamorous but it is necessary to make the best game we can!
This change will give us new opportunities to improve the game’s visual quality, add new effects, and increase the ways we can optimize. We’ll have more to show off in the coming weeks!
MORE FISH! ALWAYS MORE FISH!
We’re back to the grind for art as well. Creature design is at the very center of Kaiju Fishing’s spirit and our artist is back to her favorite thing: making new terrifying sea monsters. She’s currently working on a flat, sideways fish that’ll inhabit the tropical area.
We have the concepts mapped out for the fish across the game and we’re always excited to see the next one come to life!

That's all for now. We have more in the works and will share more as it comes. Be sure to share the game with your friends to get the word out about KAIJU FISHING. As always, thanks for reading! Stay safe out there. <3
