1.1 - Four- and Five-Star Challenges and New Builds

Four- and Five-Star Challenges

Four stars: Continue fighting two enemies, now with an 8-second decision timer each turn.
Five stars: Face coordinated groups of three enemies. Use up to 3 skills per turn with 12 seconds to decide.
Relic Collection

Added 40 shared and class-specific relics. Guardians in Chapters 1-3 offer a relic choice, and you can equip up to three per run.
The new Relic Codex tracks collected, discovered, and undiscovered relics.
Finish a journey to collect new relics permanently. Relics encountered along the way remain recorded as discovered.
Run Builds

Added 30 skill augments, 4 two-sided traits, and 8 build relics.
Challenge elites to earn augment points and build rewards. Reroll, replace, or cleanse choices during the journey.
The new build overview shows all your current skill augments, traits, and relics.
Adventure and Systems

Chapter routes have more branches. All 20 adventure events were reworked to show costs and possible outcomes before you choose.
Added four scene mutations. Primary and secondary class skills cost no action points, but each can only be used once per battle.
Added Steam achievements for Relic Collection and high-star challenges. Existing progress is synced automatically.
Existing saves remain playable. Start a new journey to experience the full 1.1 update.

Two things: achievements were not working at all in 1.0.1, and characters now pick up the light of whatever place they are standing in. Fixed Steam achievements now unlock. The 1.0.1 installer was missing a component the game needs to talk to Steam, so nothing you earned was ever

Steam achievements now unlock. The 1.0.1 installer was missing a component the game needs to talk to Steam, so nothing you earned was ever reported. It is now included, and our build process refuses to produce an installer without it rather than let this happen again.
Nothing you earned was lost. Achievements have always been recorded in your local save first, so everything you unlocked while 1.0.1 was installed is sent to Steam the first time you launch this version.
Presentation
Characters are now lit by the scene they are fighting in. Every portrait was painted under the same even light and then placed on whichever background the encounter picked, so a figure carried the same flat lighting into a snowfield, a burning ruin and a lava bridge alike. Each arena's own key light, shadow colour and brightness now reach the characters standing in it: a dark cloak stops sinking into dark stone, a pale beast stops glowing against a bright sky, and both take highlights from the side the light actually comes from. The work is done while you are still on the route map, so it costs nothing once a fight begins.
Apologies for the achievement trip. If one you expect still does not appear after launching once with Steam online, please tell us.

Thanks to everyone who has been playing since launch. This first patch is mostly about shoring things up: saves that failed without saying so, and a way the game could shut itself down on a busy PC. It also takes about 315 MB off the install.
Stability
Fixed the game closing itself without a word. Each piece of scene art gets a time limit while it loads. If your PC happened to be busy - an antivirus sweep, a download, another game patching in the background - that limit could run out, and the game would quit rather than wait a moment longer. Now it waits.
If the game does go down, it says so. The window used to just vanish. You now get a message telling you what went wrong and which folder the report landed in, which makes it far easier to send it our way.
Saves
Fixed autosaves that could fail silently. Antivirus software, cloud sync and the Windows search indexer all grab a file for a moment right after it is written. If that happened mid-save, the write was refused and the save was gone. The game now waits for the file to come free and tries again.
Fixed difficulty unlocks going missing. Writing your star progress after a clear was the one save that said nothing when it failed, so you could finish a run, not get the next star, and have nothing on screen explain why. It now reports like every other save.
Fixed a save taken from the death screen being filed as still in progress, which dropped you back into a run that was already over.
Interface
Added Load to the death screen, so getting back to an earlier save no longer means a trip through the main menu.
Fixed the talent page not returning to route selection. After dying and picking another class, replaying, heading back to the main menu, or loading a save, it stayed on the previous character's route.
Fixed the elite reward screen: it had lost its heading, and the potion description sat on top of the very options it was describing.
Button text now sits centred in every language.
Removed a faint leftover line under the class selection heading.
Fixed a line of Russian shop text that was being cut off.
Performance and install size
Added a V-Sync option under Display settings. Off by default, as it was in 1.0.0. Turn it on if screen tearing bothers you - the trade is that frames get held to your monitor's refresh rate.
The install is roughly 315 MB smaller. Scene art now ships at the size the game actually draws it, rather than at full painted resolution. Video memory use during play drops with it.
Fixed combat effects that were never actually being preloaded, which is why each one stuttered the first time you saw it.
Made the attack impact frame cheaper to draw.
Balance
Rogue - Subtlety - Smoke Shadow Style reworked. Base Smokescreen no longer grants Shield. It banks a single dodge instead, and only a direct attack can spend it. Dodge one and Stab hits harder for your next three turns; if the enemy never swings, the dodge expires and you get nothing.
It used to be a flat 20% more Shield, which meant a route built on not getting hit paid out in exactly the same currency as every other defensive pick. Now it pays for what the route is actually doing.
