Vermont Software Studios is proud to announce the Full Release of : Terraformer Expedition to Mars We have taken that next step. VTSS would like to Thank all those who have supported us through this process. We could have not achieved this without your tremendous help and input.

as an indicator of a new section,
this section text will appear on the main index page of the PDA Guide
- It uses the NAME= tag of any - Water cycle
- This is pretty much a rewrite.
- A couple of liquid type block rendering issues were addressed.
- The melt rate of (any solid to liquid/gas), now uses a chance value.
- The precipitation rate of any liquid to gas now uses a chance value.
- The rain rate of any gas to a solid now uses a chance value.
- The value of these chance values can be changed via the 'WaterCycle' hack code.
- To make rendering of the water melt more realistic and the code run faster,
fully obscured water blocks have a high probability of turning back to a solid.
- Water flowing now goes in 8 directions instead of 4, water flow direction and speed have been improved.
- Stand alone water puddles have a high chance of evaporating, as do higher elevation water blocks
- Lower elevation water blocks have lower chance of evaporating.
- This makes water collection in craters much easier and doable.
- Clouds systems have been introduced.
- Two vortexes are created on the planet, one southern latitude, the other in the north.
- Clouds have been added to the GPS, so you can visibly see these vortexes in action.
- These vortexes suck in clouds, they rotate the planet either CW or CCW depending on the latitude.
- Clouds in these vortexes have a high chance of dumping rain.
- So what happens is, over time the planet will accumulate bands of water
- These bands could be funneled to an appropriate player determined spot, like a crater, via a player built canal.
- The size of the vortex can be changed via the 'WaterCycle' hack code.
- Vortices
- Hellas Planitia, Argyre Planitia, Valles Marineris each has a vortex that orbits these features.
- (Look at the fractal files to these to see how I add these)
- (Look at the block defs to see the options on how a Vortex if defined as a block type/
- Planum Boreum has a commented out storm, you can uncomment this to get a 4th
- Note: Clouds are always attracted to the nearest vortex, so an added vortex might not get any clouds based on their location.
- Iron core fingers are smaller
- Ice caps are smaller, Planum Australe is now approx. 66% dry ice.[I/]
- Elevation evaporation
- I ditched the higher evaporation rate for water with no neighbors, it was conflicted with the elevation based evaporation
- Added 3 new sliders to "WaterCycle" hack code dlg.
- Elevation cutoff, defaults to 96
- Below cutoff, evaporation scalar
- Above cutoff, evaporation scalar
- Smaller sun
- New tool - Blaster
- Has no shooting graphics
- Deletes blocks, creates the atmos gas associated with the block
- Doesn't work on aliens, works like a normal weapon in this case
- Water flow speed
- This has been increased, I worry about FPS with this increase.
- All plants grow twice as fast
- Psychrophiles are now temp=0,60
- Radiophiles are now temp=28,160
- Growing bacteria triggers the 'first plant' achievement, outside plant still requires 'real' plant
- Methane going negative, I have put a clamp of zero on all gases, this has not been tested
- Fixed: Overwrite of underground levels with random features is now prevented
- Added populated food rations slot to the spacesuit
- Water flow rate is adjustable via the 'WaterCycle' hack code
IMPORTANT!
This update breaks saved games that have aqueduct pump or pipes
Because I changed the fractal definitions, saved games can have
mislabeled features.
Because of this, in reality, this update breaks all saved games.

This isn't one of those games that you sit down and click away with one eye open and half a brain engaged -- this game is HARD. Not hard like impossible for bad reasons, or stupid puzzles. You're marooned on Mars with no support, no other people, and no plan but to survive. How easy would that be in real life? And you have an entire planet to deal with, and explore. You have to change Mars itself into Earth using pretty much nothing as starting equipment. It's a long, long process and you have to really THINK about what you're doing the whole way. This game isn't for the average 6 year old IQ who just wants to blow stuff up. You have to build and maintain everything you need to live, keep it all topped up, hope you are able to grow enough food to survive, bust your butt to ensure you can get enough fuel to just keep from freezing, keep the air flowing, and keep every bit of lichen, or bacteria, or shrub alive in conditions harsher than anything Earth has to offer. Making Mars into Earth isn't easy, but man is it worth it

Centuries of misuse and neglect have transformed our home world into a blistered ruin. In desperation, the dwindling resources of all mankind are pooled together one last time. Three terraforming ships set forth towards Mars, the ancient deity of War, of blood. Of our final hope.
Centuries of misuse and neglect have transformed our home world into a blistered ruin. In desperation, the dwindling resources of all mankind are pooled together one last time. Three terraforming ships set forth towards Mars, the ancient deity of War, of blood. Of our final hope. As they begin their approach to the red planet a blinding light erupts from behind the moon Deimos, and the last chance for the human race plummets to the arms of the awaiting God.
Beware: someone, something brought those ships down.
You will create a complete atmosphere, hydrosphere, and a complex biosphere - step by agonizing step - as you fight to stave off the cold, the hunger, and the loneliness of a world that will kill you without a thought, with no one to hear you scream.
