A huge shout-out to all of you who’ve played our demo since its release in June; we’ve read your comments, watched your Twitch streams, and doomscrolled past your reels. It’s really heartwarming to work so hard on a silly thing and find people who love it as much as we do.
But for now, some updates!
Demo Updates
Right now, we’re hard at work finishing the game, polishing the last few sections of the game until it's worthy of your library. We wanted to update you on some exciting improvements we have made since the demo release based on your invaluable feedback!
Office Quest Improvements
We love narrative, and we wanted to find ways to make choice matter. Ambitiously, every side quest (or Office Q.U.E.S.T.) has more than one way to solve it, and that choice matters to the world. After watching hours of streamers and playthroughs, we noticed that we weren’t doing a good enough job communicating what the choices are and their impact.
Now you’ll have a clearer idea of what impact of your choices have, helping you make an informed player decision rather than going the path of least resistance. Your choices also influence your Cat Secretary personality: Focus, Cunning, and Ferocity. We wanted to help reinforce that, so now a personality-unique fanfare triggers when a choice is made.
Finally, we’ve reviewed the overall clarity of our QUEST hints and steps, improving the flow where we noticed player friction over the last month.
Ongoing Experience Improvements
While most of our time is spent finishing the overall story and experience of Cat Secretary, we’ve continued to improve our overall experience, including improvements to:
Coffee Machine & Vending Machine task UX
'Goober Glow Up' Doll Designer memory game
Audio Log stability
Enemy Awareness
Audio and Ambience
Level Loading Optimization
Gamepad Compatibility
… and a lot of little things.
We’re aware that framerate has been an issue for some players on older machines, and have more optimizations & improvements planned in the coming months.
Secret New Lobby Activity
A highly requested feature was added to the Lobby, but it’s a secret. If you think you know what it is, let us know. If you’ve finished the demo, feel free to drop back in and try to find it!
We’re going to Gamescom!
It’s an absolute privilege to have been invited to be a part of the Indie Booth Arena at Gamescom. It’ll be our first time in Europe, and we’re excited to meet all of you and talk about Cat Secretary and the future! If you’re planning to come to Gamescom, come visit us and hang out!
