Enemy god AI updates
- AI gods have developed a new hobby, lobbing meteors at your followers. They make a good effort to avoid smiting any of their own followers nearby, but sometimes the opportunity to take you down a notch is too good to pass up. Just like you, they need to capture a meteor shrine before gaining access to this power - so be sure they don't get it!
- To keep the meteors rolling in, a god needs mana. The AI has learnt how to balance the needs of a healthy religious economy, and will now command a proportion of its followers to worship at its shrines.
New UI and leaderboards
- The old placeholder in-game UI has been replaced with a cleaner hex-themed look. You can find your population and your current pop cap (limited by the number of follower homes) in the top left, with your current mana beneath. On the bottom of the screen you will find your godpowers, with new buttons becoming available when you capture shrines.
- To help transport you across the godly realms for your conquests, a new campaign menu has been created. The campaign menu will introduce you to each level and progress you through the story, with the map you are about to play displayed blurred in the background.
- Upon winning a map, you will receive a score and a rank on the Steam leaderboard. Competitive gods may decide to replay a map to try and unlock the maximum score and the coveted #1 spot.
Followers flee from danger
- Your followers have gotten marginally more intelligent, learning a proper respect for volcano safety procedures - run away! When detecting danger, followers will now start flailing their arms and running in hopefully the right direction. This may spare some of them from fiery death.
Shrine mechanic updates
- Shrines now unlock god powers, with different shrines available in each realm. In most realms you will start off with a shrine granting the terraform godpower, which is your bread and butter for making room for your followers to grow. The power a shrine grants you is shown floating above the shrine. You will need to think strategically about capturing shrines and denying their powers to your rivals.
- A new victory condition has been added, ending the game when all shrines in a realm have been captured. With all shrines under your control, you may banish all other gods from the land, saving time on cleaning up every last heretic. Finishing a map with all shrines under your control will give you a higher score.
Other changes
- Terrain colour palettes have received an overhaul, switching over to monochrome colour palettes that get darker at higher elevations.
- Various new visual effects, including houses blowing up with debris, and a bit of camera shake when volcanoes erupt or meteors explode.
- The map edges have received a bit more work, to give them a rockier look - each realm is a rocky island floating in space.
