A big update on SCP: Submerged!
In this article, we'll be going over some huge updates regarding SCP: Submerged, like the title says, finally, some good news!! Here's a quick overview of what this article contains;

SCP: Submerged map remastering.
We are currently working on remaking the map of SCP: Submerged, moving away from building every part of the map by hand, piece by piece, and opting to pre-build every room, hallway and part of the facility, and make them all their own mesh/model. This will massively improve performance. This is what we call the Partition system, which so far has proven very effective, improving performance significantly! The Partition system also streamlines our map-building process, saving us tons of precious time during development.
SCP: Submerged now uses Nanite!
We are now taking full advantage of Unreal Engine 5's Nanite. Bringing unparalleled detail to every corner of our world. With Nanite, we can deliver stunning visuals without compromising performance.
What is Nanite?
Nanite is a cutting-edge rendering technology that transforms the way we handle detail in our game. It breaks down complex 3D models into tiny pieces called "nanites," allowing us to maintain incredible levels of detail at any distance.
Instead of relying on traditional LOD (Level of Detail) systems that swap out entire meshes as objects move away, Nanite dynamically streams these nanites based on what you can see. This means that every nook and cranny of our world is filled with extreme detail, delivering a more immersive experience than before!
SCP: Submerged performance improvements!
We want to share how the SCP: Submerged performance has increased. After making the aforementioned changes, we have seen massive improvements in Frames Per Second, frame-time, and overall system strain.
Underneath you will see performance statistics for SCP: Submerged before and after the changes we've made (Left is the previous version, Right is the current version) These stats were achieved on our main development rig, on the highest game settings, running these specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x
GPU: GeForce RTX-3060 12GB
RAM: 48GB DDR4 2600hz
Overall Performance improvement
Overall we have seen a performance improvement of about 135%!! We've bumped the game up from a cool 55-60 average FPS to an average of 130, on the same settings! A massive improvement form previous builds of the game. This is the kind of performance we want to ship the game with when we launch in Early Access, which will hopefully be this year!
Refreshed character models!
We've been working hard to make our character models for SCP: Submerged look more natural and realistic, here are some improvements we've made:

Steam Deck compatibility!
SCP: Submerged now runs pretty darn well on the Steam Deck. This is on MAX SETTINGS, and is running at a cool average 50 FPS, (while plugged in of course) which is pretty impressive, and definitely playable, even more so on lower graphics settings.

Get your popcorn and snacks as we tell you why we MIGHT have to delay SCP: Submerged a little further, bear with us here.
Long story short...
Lighting in SCP: Submerged has caused us a ton of trouble, performance issues as well, we're being hindered in development as our current lighting setup is killing frames. As soon as we fix our technical difficulties we'll be back on track and ready to start Early Access real fast, but we honestly have no good estimate of when we're done with this issue, we hope you all can bear with us and be patient as we try our best to roll this game out over 6 months past the due date.
Not only that
But internal issues in the studio has also risen, and caused delay in our workflow. We sincerily apolagize for the long wait, but we want to roll out a good first impression when we start Early Access.

We can't say for sure how long the delay will be, or if there will even be a delay, but please stay patient! Now we'd like to share some info about the game of what to expect in the initial release;
What to expect for V0.1 (Early Access release day)
Please keep in mind that the game will recieve more content on a regular basis up until full release, this includes new chapters and big changes/additions to existing ones.
