The top players will leave their mark inside Tempo Punk when the full game drops. How? You’ll see soon enough.

Throughout the last month we've revealed a bunch of new enemies you'll encounter, they all come from the "Oppressor" faction and haven't been seen at all in our pre-alpha demo. I wanted to share these new enemies with you (aka the few people that'll randomly come across out steam announcements)!
Anyway let me introduce you to the upcoming enemy line-up. Keep in mind these are in very early development and could just as easily end up getting cut, renamed or reworked entirely, y'know typical development nonsense.
Oppressor Harasser
This bipedal mech features rocket pods for arms, it'll jump around the arena and fire off a barrage of rockets in your direction, really it's more of a carpet bombing now that I think about it.
Below you'll see some prototype-level demonstrations of how it'll roughly function in-game, of course it's lacking a ton of animations and seems practically harmless at the moment, we'll worry about its balancing as we implement it into the actual game, just imagine its shooting rockets out of its pods for me please.
A defensive variant will carry two ballistic shields, it'll deploy a shield barrier which pulses with the level's music. While it has the shield barrier deployed it'll toss pods at the player, these pods will open up to release two slicer drones that aren't super tough, but we feel like it'll definitely add more to the encounter.
And here's a better look at those drones, features a very neat pod opening animation.
This wraps up what we've been cooking up since the pre-alpha demo, of course there's more to show but we gotta keep some surprises to ourselves, right? As always join our Discord server or follow us on Twitter/X if you wanna see these dev logs the moment they're posted.

Update: The demo has now ended, thank you for playing our demo! You may get a scary notification later on about the demo getting revoked, but don't worry about that, it's just big red text on your screen, nothing to worry about... maybe you should be worried if you don't get it, actually...

Our first demo is available right now, it's the same demo as the one used for TwitchCon at the moment so personal customization will be lacking since we're hard-focused on the gameplay itself, but there is one catch.
We kinda wanna keep this demo semi-private so you're only able to access it through a Steam key, more specifically through our Discord Server since we've setup a bot that grants you keys from a large pool of them... we implore you to join the server, you can even join just to claim the key and leave - we wont judge!
Don't forget, this demo will end sometime on July 7th!
We are going to TwitchCon 2024 in Rotterdam, but most importantly we are launching our first ever demo here on Steam this Saturday! More specifically: 2024, June 29th at 10:00 UTC+2 , the demo will be available for a week and ends sometime on July 7th

Hey, thought I should catch you all up on what's been going on with us. So shortly after our first devlog video we wanted to keep people updated on our overall progress and decided that sometime in 2024 we'd start posting weekly devlogs and completely failed to mention that fact on here...
These devlogs of course range from showing brand new level sections to small things like certain music tracks receiving some adjustments, now we are not about to force you to join our Discord server to keep track of our development... but you will have to use Twitter as the alternative... ew...
And of course there's more, these are just 4-5 out of 12 weekly devlogs we've made thus far! No guarantees if we'll be able to keep it up forever though, especially since as of recent we've been doing a lot of internal development that doesn't really give us much to showcase.

this'll be a paraphrased summary of the video We generally call this thing we're making "Project Black". It initially started as a passion project inspired by the surge of retro shooters from around the year 2019.
While V1RAL had neat retro visuals and interesting ideas, it was self-admittedly very rough around the edges, the enemies felt practically useless, not to mention the complaints we got about the game's pixelization being much too intense. Then there was virtually no progress made on V1RAL in the year 2022, when it came time to return to this project it felt like we were missing the retro shooter train, but felt inspired by the way V1RAL's music corresponds to what was happening in-game, hence why we greatly shifted focus.
This is where the project evolved to become Tempo Punk, the art style has completely changed but at its core this is still V1RAL. We're using a lot of what we learned from our past development and made tons of improvements with a rhythm-based twist. As different as the game looks we believe that this is still V1RAL at its core, we've kept what worked about our previous iteration and improved upon it. Overall we're feeling confident with the switch to the rhythm genre and hope you'll stick around as we continue development!
