We focused on making song generation easier to use, and easier to understand
New interface:
Rebuilt the app around task-focused tabs: Compose, Arrange, Mixer, Results, and Settings.
Added a clearer Compose flow for song setup, progressions, output, and generation.
Added dedicated Arrange and Mixer screens for track selection, instruments, playback, MIDI output, and generated-song review.
Added a Results view with generated-song actions instead of exposing raw file paths.
Improved tooltips, toasts, table views, progression rows, and track action handling.
Refined styling, layout, spacing, and control grouping across the app.
Localization:
Added expanded language support and locale handling.
Added/updated translations for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese.
Bundled additional Japanese and Simplified Chinese fonts for better text rendering.
Fixes and polish:
Improved MIDI/playback shutdown behavior.
Updated the generated manual.

MuGen is now smarter

Improved melody and chord alignment, especially for chord-based and strummed melodies.
Fixed pentatonic, blues, modal, chorus, bridge, and solo sections so they respect the selected key and scale more consistently.
Improved modal progressions, cadences, random key selection, and seventh/sus/add chord behavior.
Fixed rhythm and timing issues that could cause unexpected rests, muted sections, drifting drums/bass, or invalid very short notes.
Fixed randomized instruments and drums sometimes choosing the wrong sounds.
Improved seed reproducibility, batch generation, exported track naming, and metadata output.
Fixed several UI, playback, settings, startup, and command line crashes.

MuGen was just updated - new melody types, dark mode and more!
Four new melody types added: Major and Minor Pentatonic, and Minor and Major Blues. Try combining these with different scales and modes for some interesting results. Not every combination will sound good but maybe you will be delightfully surprised. Other changes: When generating

Other changes:

When generating more than one song at a time, each new song is randomized with a new seed to make them sound more different
New option added: Darkify! Because sometimes you're just in a darker mood. This will darken the entire song with two whole octaves.
Solo, Play and Export now respects tempo and other settings.
Some bugs that created situations where the program would freeze up have been fixed
A bug where Factory Reset would not work has been fixed
The manual has been updated
Fixed a bug where the bass line would become insanely fast in some situations

New internal music player and note viewer
You can now use the MuGen internal music player to play back generated songs. A new Note Viewer will show in real time the notes played in each channel. You can also click the new 'stop music' button to stop playback at any time. Added new options for melody direction change and
