Greetings, Survivors!
As many of you probably know, the Jutsu Games team brings together a group of real-world map enthusiasts. We have been experimenting with using OpenStreetMap data in games for many years now, starting with 911 Operator, followed by 112 Operator, and now Infection Free Zone. All of these games allow players to play in their hometown or any other location of their choice, wherever it may be.
Recently, we came up with an idea: it would be really cool if there were a “Real Maps” tag on Steam, showcasing all the games that make it possible to play in real-world locations. Those games could take place in a single location, like New York or Barcelona, or allow players to play on different maps, like our games. As long as at least a part of the playable map is close to its real counterpart, the tag should fit.
New Tags on Steam
What’s interesting is that new tags on Steam appear in a rather organic fashion. We contacted Steam about this idea, and they let us know that they rarely add new tags on their own. Steam Support suggested that instead, players should add a new tag themselves. If enough players do so, the tag can eventually become official once it reaches a certain level of popularity.
And this is where we want to ask for your help!
Real Maps Tag
If you would like to help us with promoting the Real Maps tag, here is a short instruction regarding what to do in order to add a Custom Tag on Steam:
2. Click on the "+" button next to the existing tags in the top-right corner of the game's Steam Page:
3. Type "Real Maps" and click the "Add" button.
4. That's all! The whole operation shouldn't take more than 2 minutes.
If you enjoy games with real maps as much as we do, we would really appreciate your support in this matter. Of course, we also want to encourage you to add this tag to other games that use real-world maps. It would be great to have an easy way to discover new games under this tag officially one day. Let’s see what we can achieve together!

Changelog
Added Game's End Pop-up and optional Credits after dealing with the Purifier Zone (late-game gameplay with Convoys). Many players asked us for a formal ending to the game. Of course, the game can be continued after that.

Updated grass optimization across the game. This also includes some heavy fixes, where the grass was rendered even though it wasn't visible to the players at all.
Lowered the building space requirement for the Gathering Place building. For comparison, the biggest Gathering Place (for 2,000 citizens) now requires 33,000 m^3 of space, compared to 50,000 m^3 that it previously required.
Fixed Squad sometimes becoming unresponsive after an exchange with another Squad.
Fixed autosaves sometimes taking too long due to volumetric fog.
Fixed missing Farm highlight when the cursor hovered over the middle of the Farm.
Fixed Buildings' Full Info mode not displaying correctly after starting a repair.
Fixed errors when a structure connected to plant explosives work was destroyed or unavailable.
Fixed the Expedition Tiles with Scientists sometimes providing the player with an enormous amount of resources.
Fixed another batch of different issues that could've impacted stability or caused crashes.
Other than this update, we’re also slowly working towards the first part of the Major Update #7 Preview announcement. We can’t wait to show you all the cool things we’ve been working on! The first part of the preview should be ready within the next few weeks. Do you have any guesses about what we might be adding to the game?

We are happy to bring a new Bugfix Update #42 your way! In addition to several fixes, we’re also updating two important systems. We can’t wait to see how you react to these changes. Have fun!

Updated priority management in the Citizen Panel. A new “MAX” button has been added, and the panel has been reorganized to improve usability.
Updated priority colors in Full Info Mode.
Updated the AddWorkersToHQ command to allow up to 1000 workers at once. Higher values previously caused crashes.
Updated farm efficiency based on temperature.
Fixed an issue where area scavenging would sometimes not select an area if SHIFT and LMB were released at the same time.
Fixed entrances to Custom Buildings sometimes spawning underground.
Fixed Full Info Mode icons appearing for NPC Zones.
Fixed Full Info Mode icons overlapping each other. We are still working on improving their visibility.

Fixed some event markers that could spawn too high for the player to reach.
Fixed an error occurring when repairing buildings before placing the HQ on convoys.
Fixed cases of random “no path” icons appearing over buildings. While we hope this resolves all similar cases, we will continue monitoring the issue.
Fixed inconsistencies in living quarters and capacity numbers when selecting the HQ and during gameplay.
Fixed Purifier HQ becoming uncaptured after save/load.
Fixed errors appearing when attacking Purifiers in Purifier Zones from inside buildings.
Fixed priorities not updating when adding resources via console commands.

Roadmap Update
If you can't play Infection Free Zone at the moment, but are wondering about the new roadmap update, here is a quick sneak peek:
We can't provide you with more details about those features yet, but expect a longer announcement somewhere in August, where we will provide more details about Electricity, Squad Skirmish, Combat Tutorial and Starting Traits.
Also, if you want to influence what gets added to the game, we highly recommend completing the survey linked in the Main Menu. Your feedback always plays a significant role in our decisions and is the best way to directly shape the future of the game. Thank you for playing Infection Free Zone!

Greetings, Survivors!
We continue fixing the issues that you report to us. This time we are also introducing some small balance updates. Swarms should scale better towards the end-game now and the Infected Dogs were made a bit slower. Don't worry, they can still catch up to your slowest Vehicles, so you have to remain attentive to them. But their previous iteration was certainly overtuned.
Due to popular demand, we are also showing entrances to the buildings now when you select them. This should help you with Zone planning and ensuring that your Squads have proper access to all the buildings in the Zone.
Changelog
Added Entrance indicators when selecting Buildings.
Reduced the Infected Dogs' movement speed from 70 to 50.
Updated the spawning of the Military Zones, so they can appear more frequently in all games, regardless of the chosen location.
Updated the swarms balance and scaling mechanics. Previously, the swarms could have been smaller if the player decided not to build walls, which wasn't intended behavior.
Fixed the vehicle spawning algorithm to ensure that every vehicle spawned on the map has a valid path from the chosen HQ. This should prevent situations where vehicles were spawned in places like courtyards.
Fixed Growling Caller to also end properly on older saves.
Fixed issues with the "Join us" option when encountering Neutral Zone on Expeditions.
Fixed tanks being able to hurt your own Squads when fighting on Expeditions.
Fixed the Mission panel by reducing its active clickable area. Previously, it was too easy to click on the Mission panel when doing other activities.
Fixed some cases of the Squads sometimes ignoring the attack order.
Fixed Meeting Point mission not ending properly upon fight with the hordes.
Fixed Squads not picking up items on Expeditions if they had their equipment slots full (despite free slots in the Vehicle's inventory).
Fixed some Squads sometimes deciding not to move when selecting and moving together as a larger group of Squads.
Fixed the possibility of placing the Walls over the building's entrances and locking your citizens in this way.
Fixed the resource tooltips sometimes closing down when not intended.
Fixed blurry ammo bar on High or below graphic settings.
Fixed grenades sometimes not exploding when thrown at steep terrain.
Fixed minefields requiring very flat surfaces to be placed.
Fixed rare cases of swarms stopping their attacks towards the late game.
Fixed some cases of trees not growing back.
Fixed custom buildings disappearing on high zoom-out.
Fixed hideout events to occur even with no proper buildings being present on the map.
Fixed issues with selecting vehicles when clicking on their icons.
Fixed vehicles sometimes spawning too close to HQ.
Fixed the missing chapter at the beginning of the game.
Fixed event markers sometimes spawning in incorrect places.
Fixed constructions sometimes ending without all required resources.
Fixed APC armor sometimes displaying in white.
Fixed the vaccine trial event not ending properly when more than 2 squads remain on the expedition tile.
Fixed some cases of the game loading getting stuck at 95%.
Fixed issues with planting trees in places where trees were previously planted.
Fixed closing the transmission log causing the game to unpause.
Fixed some repair works cancelling upon game load.
Fixed duplicated Emblems for some Supporter Pack users causing errors within the game.
Fixed some other stability issues and events that were not proceeding as intended.
We hope that this update will make your gameplay more stable. Other than that, we continue to review all your reports and feedback. Some issues are very hard to replicate or fix, but the more data we have, the easier it is. That's why we appreciate all the issues that you report to us through the Bug Reporter. Have fun!

Greetings, Survivors!
This bugfix update took us a little bit longer than we hoped. But it was important for us to fix as many critical bugs as possible. You should find Infection Free Zone more stable after this update. Whether we are talking about quests, worker management, performance, or crashes. All those areas should see noticeable improvements.
But of course, we keep on analyzing all the feedback and bug reports. We will do our best to improve the Infection Free Zone even further. Thank you for playing our game and showing that you care about it!
Worker Management - New Location
Other than fixing bugs related to Worker Management systems, we have decided to change the location of the whole Dropdown Menu. The settings weren't the proper place for two reasons:
It was easy to miss when starting a new game,
The settings are global and affect all your games.
That's why we have moved it to Game Customization, where it fits way better. It only affects the current save now (so you can have different worker management systems across different games). And it can still be changed in the middle of the game. To do so, you have to:
Go to the Escape Menu.
Select "Customize" from the list.
Change the worker management system from the dropdown menu.
The new Priority system still remains optional. You can use the previous Manual system if you find it more comfortable to use.
Changelog
Added a new transmission that informs about the option of using an Alarm.
Added ammo to the tank that can be found on convoys.
Updated the translations and some text descriptions.
Updated pop-up for Unsupported Saves and added "Read More" button redirecting to a Steam Guide.
Updated the Worker Assignment System and moved it from Settings to the Game Customization window.
Updated the Tooltips in the Priority Panels to display more detailed info about MAX Workers.
Updated the animation of the Transmission Panel warnings.
Updated the building demolition algorithms upon the game start. The demolished buildings are going to be different now, when starting a new game on the same map repeatedly.
Decreased the number of workers needed to repair the vehicle by 50% and slightly reduced the time needed for the vehicle repair.
Disabled the Alarm feature when playing with the Manual Worker Assignment System. It will come back, but this feature requires further improvements before that happens. It's still available with the Priority System.
Fixed Workers not remembering the priority of the Forrester Hut, Sawmill, and Repairmen Shop buildings after Save/Load.
Fixed incorrect Max Workers values when switching from Priority to Manual system.
Fixed an incorrect Workers Management system when loading older saves.
Fixes incorrect Worker numbers when loading older saves.
Fixed alerts about modded games appearing after a crash, even with no mods present.
Fixed missing parameters from new Research descriptions.
Fixed mission markers sometimes appearing on destroyed buildings.
Fixed some issues with the flow of reclaiming the Purifier Zone.
Fixed Squads sometimes not entering buildings when clicking on their corresponding marker icons.
Fixed Farms with irregular outline shapes after save/load.
Fixed some icons having incorrect positions in the panels.
Fixed some save files not loading up after migrating with Convoys.
Fixed the Growling Caller mission not ending properly. Still, this mission might remain stuck on older saves. If you really want to get rid of it, you can open the console commands with "~" and type "EnableCheats" followed by "CompleteActiveMissions". This should conclude all the active missions.
Fixed APC not using the Machine Gun properly at close range.
Fixed Squads receiving damage from Explosives when staying in buildings, despite Friendly Fire turned off.
Fixed the animal hunting mission not updating properly when running over the animals.
Fixed some rare occurrences of buildings with unique geometry missing entrances.
Fixed all the explosives to have a tradable value for the Merchant.
Fixed some of the new weapons and active items, like grenades, mines, and mortars, to have a dismantling value.
Fixed potential errors caused by minefields.
Fixed some weapons showing incorrect % damage falloff modifier with Squads that had a sharpshooter perk.
Introduced a set of stability changes that should reduce the number of crashes and exceptions occurring in the game.
By the way, we have also recently updated the Map Editor tool. It should now allow the modification of the 5x5 maps. Let us know how it works for you! Have fun, Survivors! Thank you once again for playing our game and helping us improve it.

Greetings, Survivors!
The Major Update #6 is finally here! We are extremely excited to bring this huge chunk of new content and features to all the players. Everyone should find something interesting in this update, whether it's the new priority system, the tanks and mortars, or the bloomery to produce metal, because they were always running out of this one specific resource.
If you need a quick rundown of the most important additions in this update, check the Trailer below!
After analyzing the feedback from the open beta branch, we can see that there is a group of players who still prefer the old priority system. That's a perfectly valid approach! If you would rather change to the old priority system, go to the Settings and change the "Workers Management" to "Manual":
Of course, we still heavily encourage you to check the new Priority System. While you might need some time to get adjusted to it, it should take away most of your problems with micromanaging the workers. Just take some time to experiment with new priorities. Don't make works that are too big when not necessary and use all the priorities (including the middle one as a base) to get the most out of this system.
Old Saves
As mentioned in the previous announcements, older saves won't be supported in this Update. If you still want to continue playing your old save, you have to change the branch on Steam and switch to the previous Update:
Right-click on Infection Free Zone in your Steam Library.
Select "Properties..."
Go to the "Game Versions & Betas" tab.
Select "old_major_update_5" to continue playing on your old save.
In recent days, some open beta players have asked, so we also want to clarify - after the full release of the game, we don't plan to do any more save wipes of this sort.
Added new defensive structures - Minefields and Bunkers.
Added a new enemy type - Explosive Infected.
Added a new resource and ammo for Explosives.
Added 6 new Laws.
Added new explosive-related Research Nodes.
Added new events, mostly related to Laws.
Added a new Building Demolition feature.
Added a new Item Lock feature. Locked items won't be left at the warehouse.
Added a new Alarm feature.
Added new Squad Patrolling feature. Click on one of the previous points with the Order Queue to create a loop.
Added a new Squad Move Together feature. Select multiple Squads that are close together to make them move with the same speed as the slowest selected unit.
Added a new Friendly Fire feature, which can result in your units hurting each other when using Explosives. Friendly Fire can be turned off.
Added a set of new Console Commands (FastConstructionState, InfiniteAmmoState, FastResearchState, FastScavengeState, PerfectMoodState, FreeResearchState, NoHungerState, PerfectWeatherState, SetBuildingCapacity, AddSkillToGroup).
Added a new Camera Setting and updated the maximum Camera Zoom Out distance. Mind you, you can still switch to the Old Camera via Settings.
Added new Dynamic Settings that will adjust based on the game's performance.
Added new resources - Vaccines and Beverages.
Added a new Apply to All option for the buildings. Clicking with SHIFT will cause the same action to be repeated for every building of the same type in the Zone.
Added an option to choose another destination with the Bus HQ.
Added a new Full Info mode for the Icons.
Added an option to repair/claim neutral defensive structures like Medieval Walls or Sound Barriers.
Added new map decorations from the Open Street Map based on the landusage tag.
Added a new survey to the Main Menu (we will be thankful for doing them!).
UPDATED:
Updated the size of different objects in the game. The game should look more realistic now.
Updated the NPC Zones. Some NPC Zones will now have enemy encampments that can be defeated and reclaimed.
Updated the Save System. Saves from the previous updates won't be supported anymore. Starting a new game is mandatory.
Updated some Research descriptions to provide more detailed information about their corresponding effects.
Updated the number of Citizens needed to unlock Laws from 200 to 100.
Updated the Laws to have a slightly smaller impact on the Moods within the Zone (both positive and negative).
Updated the Immigrant mechanics to persist for longer before they stop visiting the Zone.
Updated the available sizes of Expedition areas.
Updated Chapter Titles and logic.
Updated the "Create Squad" panel.
Updated the Merchant to include Explosive items.
Updated the visuals of some Bridges in the game.
Updated several missions to ensure higher stability.
Updated the Swarms to have a chance of creating new Lairs.
Updated the Resource Piles with new available resource types inside.
Updated the Ukrainian names and surnames.
Thank you for playing Infection Free Zone! Let us know your thoughts about this update. As always, we will go through your feedback and bug reports to solve all the most critical issues over time. If you want to provide us with more advanced feedback, we heavily recommend going to the Main Menu and clicking on the "SEND FEEDBACK" button. Those surveys heavily impact the development of the Infection Free Zone. Have fun!

Greetings, Survivors!
A new build is now available on the open_beta branch. Sadly, new significant issues arose where workers disappeared in some games on the previous build. Due to that, we had to do yet another wipe of the save files. We hope that it will be the last time that we have to make such a decision (at least for Major Update #6).
There's also one more reminder that we want to share with the players - the previous priority system hasn't been removed from the game. If you prefer the previous version and have already gotten used to it, you can go to the Settings and switch from "Priorities" to "Manual" in the Workers Management setting.

We are introducing new Laws in Major Update #5. There are 6 new Laws coming to the game:
Kill on Diagnosis
Extra Care
Cannibalism
Ceremonial Burial
Autopsy
Body Disposal
While we don't want to spoil what the new laws do, the names are probably self-explanatory. Expect more options to shape the Zone in your desired direction. Pay extra attention to the needs of your Citizens or prioritize survival at all costs. The choice is yours.
To make the Laws more interesting, we are also adding new Law-related events. Your Citizens will now react upon passing some laws. Imagine you have decided to enact child support rights to take place in your Zone. Yet some of the citizens find them unjust. They are rebelling against the young adults receiving additional rations, while not having to work. What will you do?
Story Mode Settings
New game customization options have been available in the game for some time now. They allow you to tinker with a lot of options, disabling the infected's ability to swim, for example. The major drawback of those additional settings was related to the need to disable the story events. This will change with Major Update 6.
We are introducing the Game Customization for the Story Mode, too. While it won't include a few options (disabling illness events, changing day length), we hope that it will vastly improve your experience with the game. Especially when starting a fresh, interesting run on a new location.
Updated NPC Zones
With Major Update #6, we are also updating the NPC Zones. For example, encountering Raider or Purifier Camps will now result in seeing the whole enemy settlements on the map. If you manage to kill all the enemies and break into the HQ, their building adaptations will now become your own. It's a challenging, yet rewarding way to start a New Zone when moving with Convoys.
Squads - Patrols
As you know from the previous announcement, we are vastly updating the Worker AI via the new priority system. But we have also seen your requests to provide Squads with more options, too. That's why we are introducing a new feature for the Squads.
Squad Patrol - if you decide to close the order queue by clicking on one of the previous destination points, the Squads will come back to it at the end to repeat the whole route again. The route can be very simple (2 points) or as complicated as you want it to be.
What do you think about the newest Trailer and all the additions that have been announced for the Major Update #6? Which feature is the most interesting of them all in your opinion? We can't wait to read your feedback! Thank you for playing Infection Free Zone.

Another batch of fixes has arrived! We have also made yet another update to the Convoys to fix the situation where it was very easy to get stuck with no Storage space in the Bus HQ.
Changelog
Increased Bus HQ Capacity after setting it up on Convoys from 60 to 300.
Updated the server settings.
Updated the analytics events.
Fixed a bug where the recent new Server in Singapore could have been unavailable.
We hope that this will be the last bugfix update for now. The next time we release a playable build for you, it should be a new experimental version of Major Update 6. Mind you, it might take us a few weeks before it's ready. Join us on Discord if you don't want to miss any news about the builds on the experimental branch. Thank you for playing Infection Free Zone!

Greetings, Survivors!
We’re happy to share another batch of features coming to Infection Free Zone in Major Update #6. If you missed the previous announcement, we recently covered the addition of Explosives. This time, the changes may be less flashy, but they should improve the smoothness of your gameplay by a LOT.
Save Support
Before we cover all the new additions to the game, we have an important announcement to make. Old Saves won't be supported anymore starting Major Update #6. For a long time, we did our best to ensure that you could continue playing on that old Zone that you started 2 years ago. But as time goes on, this becomes more and more complicated for us.
When analyzing your bugs, we encounter save files that have a history of being played on 20 different versions. Sometimes, those versions even include experimental and open beta builds that were never released for everyone to play due to issues with stability. Verifying those save files and making them compatible with the recent updates becomes increasingly difficult for us.
We hope that this decision will result in much better stability of your games. And for everyone invested in their older saves, we will provide branches on Steam with older versions of the Infection Free Zone, so you can keep on playing your game as it was before. In order to access them, you have to right-click Infection Free Zone in your Steam library, select "Properties..." and then go to the "Game Versions & Betas" tab.
Zone Alarm
We have noticed that some players were heavily invested in micromanaging the workers when the day ended. They dismissed them all from their day jobs and assigned them as guards to countless gates and towers across the Zone. While effective, this approach could've resulted in severe burnout throughout the gameplay.
The "Alarm" feature allows the player to quickly react in case of sudden danger. You see a huge Swarm attacking your Zone, you use the "Alarm" command via your radio and now defending the Zone becomes more important than anything else. All your citizens will move to the towers and gates ASAP.
There's a small drawback to that feature, though. The alarm can take place for several hours and once it's over, the defenders are tired. After this intense shift, they will need to rest for at least a small portion of the day. We believe that the drawback is relatively minor compared to the advantage this feature provides.
New Priority System
The new Priority System is one of the changes that we are most excited about for Major Update #6. For a long time, we have seen requests to reduce the micromanagement in the game and to make the Workers smarter. The new Priority System should cover this in a significant way. The summary of the new System:
You can now set up the following priorities for every role and every building in the game - work disabled, lowest, low, medium, high, and highest.
Workers will automatically fill all the buildings and all the works in your Zone, starting with the highest priorities first.
Squads can still be recruited, even if all the Workers are assigned to existing works. Workers will be unassigned from the tasks with the lowest priorities.
In short, no more cases where you have empty production buildings and your Citizens stay idle, even though they could work on something. No more cases where the death of a group of citizens breaks the distribution of the Workers across the whole Zone. The new system is simple, effective, but still provides a lot of room for optimization for the player. And if you really liked the way it was before, you can go to Settings and change the Priority System to the previous one.
New Camera Options
If you are paying close attention to the recent updates, you might know that we have added a Free Camera console command in the recent Bugfix Update #36. After seeing the positive feedback towards the feature, we decided to add a new camera option to the Settings. You can play with "Fixed Tilt", which works the same way as the current camera, or change to "Free Tilt".
While it isn't as free as the console command mentioned above, it allows you to zoom out further and change the angle of the camera as far as 45°. It might heavily impact the performance of the game, but it's hard to argue - some maps look really great through this new camera.
Bloomery
Last but not least, the building many of you have been waiting for. Bloomeries are coming in Major Update #6 to address all your metal production needs. They will work very similarly to Clay Pits and offer two production variants.
Using wood (more affordable) will provide less metal per cycle,
Using fuel (less affordable) will provide more metal per cycle.
We’ll also be introducing a much-requested change to how Clay Pits and Bloomery work. Both buildings will now be deconstructible, as many of you have asked for.
Games Operators Sale
Infection Free Zone is currently available at a significant 30% discount! If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to jump in, now is the perfect time to start building your own survivor settlement and face the hordes of the infected. This is our biggest discount yet, and one that might not return for quite some time. If you’re following releases from Games Operators, you might also be interested in a discounted bundle with Solar Expanse, which has just launched.
Is that all that we have planned for you for Major Update 6? Not yet! We still plan to share one more Preview from this update with you. Stay tuned for more news about Infection Free Zone's development. And don't forget to let us know what you think about all the upcoming changes mentioned in the announcement. Thank you for being with us!

Due to popular demand, we have started experimenting with the free camera console command. While this feature is highly experimental, we are adding it to this build. Please let us know how it works for you. Some issues can occur, but we hope to fix them over time.
Other than that, this build includes some other fixes and stability updates, which should positively impact your gameplay.
Changelog
Added a free camera console command. Use EnableFreeCameraMode and DisableFreeCameraMode console commands to enable/disable this feature. Warning - this feature is highly experimental and can cause some issues. We will appreciate reporting all the encountered issues via the in-game Bug Reporter so we can fix them over time.
Added a pop-up for players from Russia who encounter issues when connecting to our servers. Players from Russia also shouldn't encounter endless loading anymore. When the game detects server issues, that player will be returned to the Main Menu.
Added European Union Flag to the Supporter Pack, as per community request.
Updated the Spanish translations to include changes suggested by the community.
Fixed the issue with split buildings changing shape and size upon save/load.
Fixed the issue with citizens sometimes running away from HQ towards the enemy Hideout.
Fixed one more Memory Leak that we were able to locate.
Fixed one more issue that could result in the game crashing for the players.
How to use Console Commands?
If you want to use the Free Camera and haven't used console commands before, here is a quick instruction:
Press the "~" button to open the console.
Type "EnableCheats".
Type "EnableFreeCameraMode".
Use RMB to start rotating your camera without any limitations.

Greetings, Survivors!
The next Major Update will feature A LOT of Explosives. Tanks, Grenades, Mortars, Mines, Demolition, and even... Exploding Infected. While more things are expected to be added in Major Update #6, we want to dedicate this preview to Explosives only. Have fun!
Explosives
Let's start with some additional background. When we started designing all the mechanics around the Explosives, we asked ourselves about their actual usage in the game. A few critical points were clear for us:
Gameplay at night is considered too passive by some players. They want more action.
Some players want to have more tools that will allow them to prepare an unpenetrable defense at night. They want more strategy.
Players ask for more content. They want more variety.
We wanted to satisfy all those needs with the addition of Explosives. We hope you will find them all to your liking.
Tanks. Since the Infection Free Zone's release in Early Access, tanks seemed to be the Holy Grail of requests of our community. While we were hesitant about whether they are the best fit for our game, the time has come for us to acknowledge that our players want us to bring their offensive arsenal to the next level.
Expect the tanks to be very durable, dealing massive amounts of damage, and also hard to find. You will have to look for Military Zones or other rare locations where the military was previously stationed. Even a single tank will significantly improve your Zone's military power. But they will also consume an absurd amount of fuel...
With tanks, we are also adding Heavy Ammo. Its production will be more costly and require additional research. Expect the metal resource to be even more valuable than ever. While we cannot provide you with too many details yet, don't worry. There will be a new way to obtain Metal, too.
Mortars are one of the coolest additions that we are adding in Major Update #6. Their range exceeds the line of sight, they can shoot over buildings and provide an explosive Area of Effect. You might aim them by hand or let your squads and towers fire automatically.
With this update, we will also be adding Friendly Fire. In worst case scenario, your Squads can also get hurt. In return, defending your Zone with Mortars will make every night engaging. If the gameplay during the night was too passive to your liking, you might find those weapons best. And friendly fire? You can turn it off in the settings if you want.
Grenades are going to be relatively similar to Mortars. The main differences:
Using a grenade is kind of a "special ability" and is never used automatically.
Squad can use other weapons while using Grenades - the Grenades are kept separately in the inventory.
Grenades will have a much shorter range than Mortars.
Minefield
While some players tend to overlook them, barbed wire is a favorite defensive structure for others. Not only does it slow down the enemy hordes, but it also deals damage. Expect Minefields to be even deadlier.
They will greatly expand the toolset of those of you who want to set up a perfect defense during the day and then just watch calmly as the events of the night unfold to your favor. There is one thing we are still wondering about.
Should the player build Minefields the same way they build Barbed Wire? In line? Or should they place whole fields of mines at once (think of placing Farms at the moment). Let us know in the comments what approach would work best in your opinion.
Some of our oldest fans might remember that Demolition was actually showcased all the way back in 2021, long before releasing the game in Early Access. While we have always remembered this cool feature, now is the best time to match it with other additions.
With Major Update #6, the demolition is a perfect fit with the whole Explosives theme. Demolition advantages? It's way faster to destroy the building this way and get the resources. All you have to do after is gather the remaining piles of resources. The drawback? The demolition costs. You need to prepare the explosives.
There is another advantage, too - the detonation kills everything inside.
Exploding Infected
We wouldn't be ourselves if we weren't balancing all those new, amazing weapons and tools with a new threat. Patrols report that someone is using the infected as living bombs. Hung with explosives from head to toe, they are more dangerous than ever. Watch for these units during attacks and eliminate them carefully as your top priority. Once they reach your walls, it might be too late.
Is that all we have planned for Major Update #6? Absolutely not! Expect at least one more Preview somewhere in the future that will showcase other great changes coming to Infection Free Zone.
Thank you for playing our game! We hope that you will find this update a blast. Pun intended!
